(HAYES'S POV)
Getting off the plane was the best feeling ever. Nash, Will, and I were all stiff and almost forgot what walking was. Dad and Skylynn were too peppy. "Are we going to Disney World?" Skylynn beamed. "No, baby, that's in Florida," Dad said, scooping her up. She obviously wasn't a baby. She was five. But she didn't complain when Dad carried her around.
"Welcome to Maui," a tall, tan guy said when we walked outside with our luggage. "What hotel would you be staying at?"
"Ka'anapali Resort," Dad said.
"Ah yes, one of our best. Bus 12 will take you there," he pointed to the left.
"Thank you," Dad smiled.
We followed Dad down the line of buses until we got to 12 and unloaded our crap onto it. "Isn't this great? We haven't been on a real vacation in such a long time!" Dad grinned.
"Yay!" Skylynn squealed. "Nashy, let me on your back!"
Nash crouched down and she hopped on his back. She was spoiled since she was so cute.
On the bus ride, I looked outside and took in all the beautiful sights. It was truly amazing and looked like it had come straight out of a vacation brochure. Beautiful beaches, beautiful plants and flowers, beautiful people.
When we got to the hotel, we were all ready to explore but Dad told us we had to unpack first. I claimed my bed and put my clothes in the hotel drawers.
"I wanna go swimming!" Skylynn announced.
"I'll take her," Will said to Dad.
"Can Nash and I explore now?" I asked.
"Alright, alright," Dad said. "Don't get lost."
The only thing I wanted to do was get lost in this gorgeous place. Nash and I first went to a beach and chased each other around on the hot sand since we forgot to wear our bathing suits.
Later, we went to get smoothies. I ordered a raspberry smoothie and Nash got a mango pineapple smoothie. "Have a great day, cousin," the lady smiled at us as she gave our smoothies.
"Cousins?" I asked Nash when we sat down. "In Hawaii we're all considered 'cousins'. Ever seen Lilo and Stitch?" Nash replied.
"So... you get married to your cousins, too?" I asked.
"Yeah. Something like that," Nash rolled his eyes at me.
Right then, I saw the most amazing human being on the whole island. She had wavy brown hair down to her tailbone, her eyes were a beautiful grey, her skin was colored warm and caramel.
"That's my cousin?" I asked, still in awe.
"Close your mouth. It's unattractive," he to me.
I closed my mouth, embarrassed. "Go talk to her if you think she's so hot," he said. "You're famous. She'll worship the ground you step on."
"Alright," I said. I took a deep breath. "How's my hair?"
"Fabulous."
"Teeth?"
"Reddish from the smoothie, but okay."
"Butt?"
"Why would she care what your butt looks like, Hayes?"
"You're right. I'm ready."
He gave me a shove toward the girl. I smoothly walked the rest of the way, then smoothly wiped out on the sand. "Damn these sandals," I muttered under my breath.
"They look pretty nice to me."
I looked up to see the beautiful girl smiling down at me. She extended her hand and helped me up.
"I'm Hayes," I said.
"Julie," she replied. "You're not from around here, are you?"
"No," I admitted. "How can you tell?"
"Your language."
"Oh."
"It was great making your acquaintance, Hayes."
"Can I get you a smoothie?"
"My sister owns the smoothie stand," she smiled. "But thank you."
I was totally not doing well. I need to step up my game.
"I'm a YouTuber, you know," I said.
"You tube?" she asked.
"The website," I said.
She looked confused. "Sorry, I'm unfamiliar with this...YouTube?"
She was so so so cute. But she didn't have a clue who I was.
"That's alright. Will I see you again?" I asked.
"Come to my father's luau tonight," she said.
"Really? Like, he'd be down with that?"
"Oh yes! He'd insist you bring your family too!"
"Whoa I don't know about that, but I'll definitely come," I grinned at her. Note to self: Don't tell Nash about the luau.
"We'd love to come!" Nash butted in out of nowhere. I slapped my forehead.
"Great! And I'm Julie, by the way."
"Name's Nash," he winked at her.
"Nash, what an exotic name!" she said.
I was definitely feeling protective. "Not really, everyone is named Nash where we're from," I added, harshly.
"Julie!" a voice interrupted. It came from a large, busty man.
"My father," Julie said to us. "Aloha, Nash and Hayes!" She hurried away after her dad.
"Hello to you, too," Nash grinned.
"It also means good-bye, idiot," I said.
"Man, was that an embarrassing fall! Did you bleed?"
"Shut up."
"Ooh...and you really crashed and sun-burned, didn't you?"
"Actually my skin is—" I looked down. My arms were bright red.
"C'mon, Hayes. Let's give you an Aloe Vera bath," he said, walking back to the hotel.
Despite being in lots of pain, (I didn't notice it when I was talking to Julie) I was totally lovestruck. She was sweet, innocent, beautiful, and different. I'd never met anyone like her before and I knew that this wouldn't be the last time I would encounter her.
