Diana was not happy with the news she had received. She matched down the hallways that led to throne room. King Philip could hear it. He heard the heavy footsteps making its way toward him before the large doors were harshly pushed open.
"Did you arrange for me to be sent to Asgard?" Diana asked, the unpleasant tone of her voice told the wise king that his was daughter was not happy about the arrangements.
"Hello Diana."
"Did you make this arrangement father?" Diana's question was repeated, the sound of her voice echoed through the halls of the dark castle. It was late at night so most, if not all of the castle's residents were asleep except for the guards on duty.
"Yes. But you must understand that this is only to strengthen the alliance between our realms." Even though his decision was final the king hated having to send his daughter away. "You will leave tomorrow and in a few months time you will marry Prince Thor of Asgard."
Thor. A man she knew nothing about, only ever heard stories of his successes and rumors of his being a handsome, yet arrogant jackass.
She was expected to marry a stranger.
Diana was taken aback by her father's stern tone. It was one she was not familiar with. "Marriage? To an Asgardian nonetheless." She scoffed.
Centuries had past but not once did the thought of being wed crossed her mind. Diana always thought her father would rule until old age took him, while she'd die in battle serving him, leaving the crown to Eleanor, her younger sister.
"The decision is final." Phillip stood up from his seat on the rusted swords decorated throne and descended towards the princess. The king placed his hands on both sides of the girls shoulders and looked down at her. "Forgive me my child. The time has come where you must fulfill your duties as the heir to the Iron throne." He embraced her in a comforting hug.
Later that same night Diana found it difficult to fall asleep. After tossing and turning for approximately an hour or maybe two hours Diana gave up. She stood from her bed, in her night gown. Seconds later Diana appeared out of thin air, seated at the end of her half sister's bed.
In a flash Eleanor had a dagger in her hand, attempting to slit the throat of her intruder, however Diana's speed was unmatched. A second later Diana's right hand covered her sister's mouth while her left disarmed the younger girl.
"Shh. Its okay." Diana shushed her and removed her hand from over the girl's mouth. "We need to talk."
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah. Yeah, I just can't seem to get any sleep." It wasn't a lie but Diana still felt horrible about withholding the truth from her sister.
A smile tugged at Eleanor's lips. She scooted to the other side of the bed, making space for Diana to rest her body. "Then stay with me for the night." She tapped the spot in front of her.
All Diana wanted was to spend time with her family before she was separated from the little she had left. So got under the cover with her sister and did not say a word about the arrangements their father had made. If she did then the night wouldn't have have been the same. Eleanor wouldn't have slept peacefully while hugging her sister.
The next morning Diana made her way to the throne room where she was welcomed by a suprising visitor. To the girl's suprise, when she entered through the large, golden doors, her father was not alone. In the room stood the All-father Odin.
Both men seem to be having an important conversation before their attention was turned towards Diana.
"Come, child. Let me see you." Odin beckoned for Diana to come closer, and she did. Odin stretch out his arm, attempting to examine the girl's beauty. She was indeed gorgeous.
Before his hand could come into contact with her face Diana stepped away from him.
"When I leave with you, what will happen to my dragons?"
"Asgard is no place for dragons." Odin responded with honesty.
"They will die without their mother." Diana stood her ground.
Finally Phillip got up from his seat and took Odin's spot in front of his daughter. "Listen Diana. You will always be welcomed in Dragard. Here will always be your home. These are your people. Those dragons are your children. You can come by anytime to check on your dragons." Philip took Diana's hand into his own and placed a golden ring design the family's symbol as its gem. "Use this to contact me. I'll always be here for you." With that he closed Diana's palm and pulled her into a tight hug.
"It's about time we leave for Asgard, don't you think?"
