"Yo Kazzy! Goshiki! Come sit with us!" Tendō waved us over the next morning after we had gotten our food from the nice cafeteria people. Exchanging a look, we made our way towards him and sat down. "You look dead Kazzy, did something happen?"

"I feel dead." I groaned, "I couldn’t sleep because of how nervous I was for today’s match."

"Seriously?” The entire table sweatdropped. “Do you usually get nervous before games?”

“No, but,” I grimaced. “It’s been a whole year since I’ve actually played in a game, since my third year of middle school I was out on injury.”

“Oh damn,” Tendou whistled, then slapped his hand on the table. “Okay guys, it’s now our job to make this game the best coming-out-of-retirement game ever for Kazzy-boo, kay?”

“You’re ridiculous,” Semi deadpanned at him.

“Oh come on!”

"We’ll play like we always do," Shirabu spoke up, looking nonchalant even as he delivered his next words. "Relying on our aces and crushing our opponents with our power."

“...Wow.”

“That’s our Shirabu~” Tendou cooed with the most sickening grin I had seen from him. The setter scowled at the redhead like he was the scum of the earth.

"I'll try my best!" I brought the attention back to me, giving them all a closed eye grin and a thumbs up.

"...You still look kinda dead Kazzy, not gonna lie."

"TENDŌ YOU DON'T TELL PEOPLE THEY LOOK DEAD!" Semi slapped the back of the lizard boy's head, causing the room to erupt in laughter at Tendou's expense. Soon after that, everyone moved to the gym.

“Wakatoshi, wanna warm up with me?” I asked as we put on our volleyball shoes.

“Sure.”

“Aww I wanted to warm up with Kazzy!” Tendou complained. “Semi-semi, warm up with me!!”

“Stop calling me that, jackass.” Said person sneered, but didn’t say no so the lizard was happy. Once everyone had their shoes on, we started warming up our bodies by throwing back and forth with our partners, loosening our arms and shoulders.

I stretched my legs out with some side lunges, then hugged my knee to my chest, switched after throwing the ball back. Then we started hitting it back and forth, and luckily I didn’t have to chase as many of the hits as I was expecting, but it was mostly thanks to the wall that kept bouncing them back.

Giving my partner a thumbs up, he nodded and tossed the ball to me, so I passed it back to him. Setting me up, I roll shot it to him and he got it up. Thus I set him up, and he definitely didn’t hold back as he hit the ball at me. My arms immediately turned red upon receiving the ball, yet I did manage to return it to him.

Back and forth, we passed, set, and hit at each other until eventually, I shanked one of his hits. “Aw man! Ack, I’ll go get it,” I jogged off to retrieve the ball, right as our opponents arrived.

“Line up everyone!” Saito yelled, so all of the Shiratorizawa team ran to greet them.

“Thank you for the game!” The two teams bowed to each other.  From there, Shiratorizawa went to their side of the net as the college team got settled in. It was at this time that everyone changed into their practice jerseys.

“Looking good Kazzy!” Tendou grinned as I held up two peace signs and mirrored his expression, the number 6 resting on my chest.

“Alright, enough,” The coach broke through them, gathering their focus on him as he picked up a clipboard. “Our starting line up for the first game will be,” Washijo stood in front of his players, his eyes on the clipboard for a moment, until they moved up to a single person. “Brekker, position one as setter.”
