Being away from her family causes Elie to feel sepanx every now and then even though she's been in the US for almost two years now. She misses all the viand that her mom cooks most especially her Ginataang Kalabasa which is her all-time favorite. Elie is currently resting in her bedroom inside her dorm after reviewing for her exam the next day and fixing some parts of her grad school thesis paper when she suddenly missed her younger sibling, Lia. She immediately grabbed her phone and texted her.
Back in Davao, where they are still residing, Lia patiently waits for the clock to strike at 5 pm before she and Gail can pick up their Daddy Rody to prepare for their dinner night with their mom when suddenly her phone beeped.
After Lia told Elie her heads up that she was not accomplishing something important, she immediately clicked her Viber app and video called her
Calling Lia...
Ate Elie calling..."Hi ate!!" Lia said while waving her hand through the video call.
"Hello, Lia? Omg ka ang bilis mo sumagot sis ha!" Elie happily responded upon seeing her."Of course ano ba ate? Ako lang 'to ano at saka one thing, it's been three days since our last video call, na-miss lang kita," Lia uttered while showing her signature pa-cute look
"Ayon! Umamin rin si akling haha! Nga pala, where's Gail? Ikaw lang ba mag-isa d'yan ngayon sa bahay?" Elie asked upon noticing that she cannot see any glimpse of her sibling.
"Andun si Ate Gail sa kwarto, naliligo na ata kasi susunduin namin si Dad sa munisipyo mamaya then we'll wait for Mom na makauwi galing sa OVP for our traditional dinner. I mean, you know them naman." Lia responded
"Lia ano na mag-bihis ka na para hindi tayo malate ng pagsundo kay Dad baka traffic pa papuntang munisipyo," Gail said while going down to their sala where Lia is sitting on the couch while talking to her Ate Elie.
"Lia si Gail ba 'yon? Bakit parang nag-iba ng itsura?" Elie asked upon noticing that Gail's hair is not on her natural black color anymore as Gail decided to change her hair color to ash brown.
Gail, on the other hand noticed that Lia is talking with someone upon hearing a familiar voice on her phone. "Si Ate Elie ba 'yan? Hi ate!! Miss ka na naming lahat dito," Gail uttered upon recognizing whom Lia is talking to on her phone.
"Yes madam ako nga ito. Pero teka nga, bakit nag-iba ka na ng hair color? Sabi ko wait for me to come home bago ka magpakulay eh," Elie said while raising a brow to her sister which made Lia and Gail laughed for a bit on the other line.
"Eh ang matagal pa naman ata bago ka makakauwi! Kating-kati na ako magpakulay saka hello ate, new year new me nga ang peg ko ngayon!" Gail responded, Elie just shook her head.
"Ay ewan ko sa'yo but anyway, I'll be ending this call na kinumusta ko lang talaga kayo d'yan. Kailangan ko pang tapusin 'tong thesis ko," Elie was about to drop the call when she immediately thought of a plan.
"Pero ate ha, marami kang utang na chismis sa amin ni Ate Gail pero fine, those can wait naman," Lia said.
"Saglit lang pala bago ko ibaba. Later give me a heads up kung complete na kayo d'yan ha, tatawag ako but please don't tell neither mom or dad that I will do so. Surprise ko lang sana sila hehe," she continued while smiling on the other line.
