-Lunch time-
You walked hesitantly into the building, already the stares had started. You could hear people whispering amongst themselves around you. Who is she? Is she new? You tentatively held the schedule in your hands; it had arrived one week ago in the mail. Trying to navigate yourself to the correct homeroom, you swore against your parents in your mind. Why the hell, all of a sudden they decided you needed to attend public school was beyond you. For the past 7 years they protested against it wildly but now that you were a senior, in a new town, they kept telling you that you needed to experience some real high school scenarios. You didn't understand why. They both reminisced often enough how much they hated it themselves. Why all of a sudden did they subject you to its torture? You let out a sigh, having found the room in question. Like you were told you introduced yourself to the teacher. She smiled fondly at you, "Oh, I hope you found the class alright. I sent a student after you but I guess they missed you in the halls." You shrugged absentmindedly, "That's alright, I didn't expect a guide anyway." The teacher nodded and motioned toward the class, "Why don't you go ahead an introduce yourself? Tell everyone a little about you." You gulped with a nod...public speaking wasn't your best subject. There were several girls wearing the same uniform; cheer or pompom squad sprang to mind. A few guys wearing the same jackets...must be what mom called Jocks? The rest looked normal enough. You smiled timidly as you noticed in the back corner of the room sat a guy hastily scribbling into a notebook. His brown curly hair shifting ever so slightly as his head bounced in thought. His tongue was peaking out slightly between his lips, ever so concentrated on what he was writing. He was totally in his own world, which you were thankful for. You noticed his shirt had the words Hellfire Club scrawled against it. You were immediately intrigued. The only hellfire you were familiar with was that of the actual Hell; the place that threatened to consume you if you strayed from the word of your parents faith. You spoke up at the beckoning of the teacher, "H-hello, I'm (Y/N) (L/N). I just moved here from (former state). I enjoy music and art. I speak three languages. I play the clarinet and the piano. I've been home schooled for most of my education, but I look forward to this next year and its experiences. " Several of the students rolled their eyes or laughed at your introduction but you shrugged it off as you made your way to the empty seat in the back. The guy from earlier gave you a half smile and a small wave as you sat down in the seat beside him. You returned the gesture as the teacher began the days lesson.
The next several classes were all the same. You noticed most of your classmates made no attempt to introduce themselves. The friendly half smile from first period the only thing that kept you hopeful. In your former home-school group, you'd been one of three your age and the other two did not like you at all. You had basically been a class of one for the past several years. While it had been frustrating, you found your current situation even more so. A new town, a new church, new people and absolutely no friends, not even younger ones that you found yourself mothering half the time. You were absolutely alone. So you chose to eat alone...at least that's what you had thought when you sat at the empty lunchroom table. Suddenly within seconds of your sitting down, multiple guys had started to approach said table. One of them being the guy from first period. He hesitated when he noticed you and suddenly that smile from before didn't feel half as welcoming. You quickly stood up, "Sorry... I'll move." If you had looked up you'd have seen the flash of hurt that swept across his features. He bit his lower lip before speaking; his voice filled the air, velvety in its nature, "What? No need to make haste m'lady. There's plenty of room here and believe me when I say this group of ragtag thieves could use a lady amongst them." He smirks as he sits the closest too you, his eyes gleaming with playfulness as he stares intently at you.
You rose an eyebrow in response to the way he spoke. You took in his features apparently gazing too long upon him because he coughed a bit to bring you out of your stare. The warmth from your blush crept up your chest and across your cheeks. You stared down at your lunch, butterflies filling your stomach. In class you hadn't noticed how attractive he was. You gulped looking back up at him, his chocolate eyes watching your every move, waiting for a response from you, "If its not too much trouble...I'll stay." His smirk turns into a wide grin, "Of course you can stay! That was the whole point, princess." He winked before cracking open his lunch box. The way he casually called you such an endearing pet name made your stomach flutter. He leaned slightly over to you, his hand brushing a stray strand of hair behind your ear, "I'm Eddie, by the way." You blushed again as the others began to include you in growing conversations. Asking how old you were, where you had moved from, what home-schooling was like and of course what all you were interested in. You answered each question in turn and started munching on the apple slices your mom had packed for you.
You motioned to his shirt, having noticed several of the others wearing it too, "What is Hellfire club?" Eddie's eyebrows raised as he began to explain excitedly but his fingertips drummed against the table as if nervous to tell you about it, "It's a club here at school for Dungeons and Dragons. Ya, know, the strategy and roleplay game?" You shook your head, eating a slice, "Never heard of it." Dustin almost choked on his sandwich, "Never!?" Eddie chuckled as he patted him on the back, "That's alright. We could teach you if you want to join?" Somehow you got the feeling by 'we' he meant himself and you were okay with that. You sipped on your strawberry soda, nodding after a few minutes, " Okay, I'm game to learn new stuff. What's the roleplay part?" You tilted your head staring over at him. He tilted his head opposite you, resting it in his hand that was propped up on the table. He smiled faintly, his other hand gesturing in the air. His rings catching your attention as they caught the sunlight through the windows, "Oh you know stuff like Lord of The Rings? You make a character and fight monsters. Defend justice and innocence. All that type of stuff." You loved fantasy so the idea made you pop up straight, "So, like, I could be an elf!? I love Lord of The Rings. It's one of my favorite books!" You practically shouted in excitement, garnering the attention of several students from different tables.
The guys chuckled at your reaction. Eddie found your response utterly adorable. He reached over and booped your nose. He gently laid his hand on your arm, the one that wasn't shoving another apple slice in your mouth, "Yes, you can be the most enchanting elf that ever lived. I have to warn you though, (Y/N)," You looked at him, his voice was like honey, "Hanging out with us...won't make you popular. In fact, you might get made fun of. Bullied." You looked down at your food, you'd never really fit in anywhere before so that kind of thing wasn't gonna bother you now. Why was he so concerned about that? Smiling you offered him a slice, "Who cares about being popular? I just want to hang out with people who accept me as I am." Eddie bit his lower lip, taking the offered fruit, "Alright then." He took a bite of it, "I'll make you a shirt. What size do you wear?" The question was innocent enough but you blushed...you'd always been self conscious about your size..."I-uh, I." Eddie noticed your reaction and motioned for you to come closer, which you did hesitantly. He placed an arm nonchalantly across your shoulders, as he talked in a hushed tone bringing you in a bit closer, "You're with friends, princess. This is a judgement free zone...however you can whisper it in my ear if it makes you more comfortable." You gulped but leaned up towards his ear, tucking his hair behind it as you got up close. He leaned down slightly to keep you from straining yourself. You cupped your hand around your mouth, whispering which size you needed and he nodded enthusiastically, "Great, I think I have one or two already made up. I'll bring them tomorrow!" He smiled at you and you bit your cheek before smiling back, "Wicked!"Eddie never bothered removing his arm from around your shoulders, and you didn't have a problem with that.
