Austin and I spent the day window shopping. He bought a few things, but I didn't get much until we got to the Cartier store. I looked through earrings, bracelets, and necklaces, but when I got to the watches, I saw something I knew Austin would love.
He has a brown watch that he wears almost everyday, but he needs something black to compliment the suit he's wearing at the festival.
I got myself a pair of earrings as an excuse to check out, and secretly purchased the watch. I'm going to give it to him on his big premier day, as a small token of my love.
After a few more stores, we head back to the hotel, where I hide the watch in the bottom of my suitcase. Austin and I take a short nap, still getting used to the time difference, but eventually I wake up to knocking on our hotel door.
Austin's already awake and gets up to open the door. In comes Olivia telling us, "You two are coming with me tonight."
She's a very straightforward person. "Where are we going?" I ask, sitting up, hardly awake.
"A yacht. Baz rented one for the week and he invited me. And I'm inviting you," she smiles.
"Alright, give us a few minutes, Isla just woke up," Austin says.
"You two are in France, on the beach, in a gorgeous hotel, and all you want to do is sleep?" Olivia scoffs.
"I'm just a sleepy person. We went to the shops today," I defend.
Olivia is about to leave the room before she says, "I'll be back in 10 minutes and you two better be ready."
"Yes ma'am," Austin and I say, ironically in sync, and Olivia is out the door.
In a quick ten minutes, I decide to wear a bikini with a sundress over top and retouch my minimal makeup. Austin wears a pair of navy blue trunks with a simple gray tee. We each grab sunglasses and leave our hotel room.
We meet Olivia near the lobby and the three of us make the short walk from the hotel to the dock. Suddenly we see a white-haired man standing high up on one of the yachts yelling, "My Elvis! My Priscilla! You came!" It's Baz Luhrmann. Austin and Olivia both wave and we make our way toward the large, white boat, boarding it.
Before coming down to meet us on the main dock, Baz makes a stop, talking to the captain and we begin to sail out to sea.
As he descends, he makes a dramatic entrance down the staircase and I'm able to see his over-the-top sparkly swim trunks. I mean, he's Baz Luhrmann of course he would have sparkly swim trunks. "Is he always this extra?" I whisper to Austin.
"Oh, just wait," he responds.
As Baz gets closer, he pulls each of us into a hug. First Austin, then Olivia, and now me. "You must be Isla." I answer with a smile and a nod. "Your cover. Absolutely incredible," he says, referring to my cover used in the film.
"Thank you so much, Mr. Luhrmann. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"Ugh no need to be so formal. Call me Baz." He rolls his eyes, then points between Austin and I. "Is this a thing?"
Austin comes from behind me, pulls me against him and rests his head on my shoulder. "Definitely a thing," he tells Baz as his arms are wrapped around my body.
"Oh exciting," he sounds genuinely thrilled. Baz whispers to me, "It's about time he found somebody." I giggle
Baz is pulling Austin away from me to take care of something, so Olivia and I make ourselves comfortable. We find a mini bar, grabbing ourselves drinks and finding some chairs to lay out on. The sun's shining so brightly today, I figure I might as well try to get a tan.
Ironically we're both wearing almost identically bikinis, matching in black, hers having a strapless top and mine being a triangle top.
"So did you get those 'final edits' of the cover yet?" She asks me.
Excitedly, I respond, "Yes, I did. Would you like to see?"
"Obviously," she leans in toward me and I pull my phone out, showing her the images. After scrolling through them she says, "Isla. It's perfect. I can't wait to hear."
"If you keep being so nice to me, maybe you'll get to hear early," I grin at her.
"I'll keep that in mind."
The two of us are pulled out of our conversation by Austin and Baz sitting next to us. "What are you ladies up to?" Baz asks.
Olivia quickly goes, "Oh nothing much, just Olivia showing me the incredible artwork for her new album," making me blush.
"Lemme see then," he snatches the phone from Olivia, scrolling through the images, squinting to see. Austin looks at them over his shoulder and the two of them mutter between each other, quiet enough that I'm unable to hear. "I like it, Isla. Simple, but still intriguing," he says, seeing the time on my phone, and handing it back. "I've got to get going, but you three can feel free to stay as long as you'd like."
The captain takes us back to the dock, letting Baz get off, and then going back out.
"What are we supposed to do with a whole yacht to ourselves?" I ask Austin and Olivia.
Austin and I share a worried glance as Olivia giggles, "I have an idea."
