Chapter 7

A year and three months later...

As an alpha and heir to one of the biggest vampire covens in Thailand Kongpob knew he had more opportunities than others but it also meant he had responsibilities that he couldn't shirk. One of them being, mating a werewolf for the sake of his coven.

As an alpha and heir he had hoped that he would be able to chose his mate but conversely he knew because of it, his mate would be chosen for him. However, since he had courted someone his parents approved of, he hoped his union would be one of love.

Her name was May, she was a beta daughter of his fathers second in command. She was younger to him by a year and were playmates since childhood. They started dating in high school and when their feelings for each other grew and continued on in college they had hoped to one day make it official.

He distinctly remembered the day almost a year and half ago when his sister informed him the family jet was waiting for him at a private strip off Changi airport and he had to immediately return home. On the drive from the airport to the Pack Lands he was informed about the developments and his impending mating.

Regardless of his travels, from the time he turned sixteen he was kept abreast of the affairs of his coven so he was aware of C.S.A's proposal but believed nobody would agree to such a preposterous arrangement. Despite his wishes he knew he had to fulfil his duties.

Soon he found himself standing in front of the Master of Archives with Arthit beside him. Only the scent of a distressed omega brought him to his senses and he realised it was Arthit's. He felt a sudden kinship with a kindred spirit who seemed to want this union less than he did. So, to comfort him he tried to make the whole process as less painful as he could but was surprised by his reaction as well. He was only trying to lessen the sting of mating.

Thankfully, they did not linger after the short ceremony and before long he was back in Singapore explaining his mating mark too May, who serenely accepted the situation. She was a poised woman who knew her duty and didn't let her emotions control her. One of the things that actually endeared her to him. Moreover, she knew Kongpob would always put his responsibility to the coven first.

'We have three years, why don't we enjoy this time together,' May pleaded.

'I can't disrespect you like that,' Kongpob stated firmly but gently. 'I love you too much,' he ended softly.

'How is loving each other disrespecting me. Promise me one thing though.'

'Anything.'

'Be mine, even if it's only for three years. He can have you after but for now be with me,' she said and drew him into a tight embrace and kissed him.

Kongpob couldn't resist her and decided to enjoy the remaining time they had. As promised he spent his time with May and studied in Singapore and accepted every mission that kept him out of Thailand and only returned to debrief and accept new missions. Fortunately, his father was sympathetic enough not to push him. He knew if he were to linger he would be forced to interact with the pack and Arthit.

Inspite of mostly living abroad Kongpob knew his responsibilities and kept himself abreast of the current affairs through his sister and other coven members as well, the Alpha leaders had set up a command centre on a neutral ground on the edges of the Council land. Apart from their mating they decided to officially sign an Accord which would help them to function and also allowed for settling any discrepancies that may arise. Such advancement was commended by the Elders as well. Apart from a few hiccups, it was a smooth transition. Having a common enemy had indeed forced them to put aside their differences. Especially when more were-creatures and vampires starting disappearing and increased activity among the witches in Thailand roused their suspicion more. Now regular patrols were carried out along with frequent reconnaissance missions to find out more about their operations.
