Akutagawa was happy, very happy. However he knows he shouldn't be, as Atsushi is his enemy, but he wasn't really. Atsushi invited him to get some coffee, which is what he was happy about. They walked into the shop, to see a girl working behind the counter. There was no one else working, or anyone else in the shop. Akutagawa saw Atsushi smile and blush at the girl. He was confused, this was a date right..?
They order coffee and sit down at a table. The girl comes over to give the coffees to them, and sits down next to Atsushi and kisses him on the cheek.
Akutagawa was fuming.
'Um.. *cough cough* Who is this?'
Atsushi nearly jumps when he hears Akutagawa speak. He then blushes before he speaks..
'Oh, um I nearly forgot to say, this is my girlfriend, Lucy! We have been dating for a few months now..'
Akutagawa wasn't angry now, he was just sad.
He decided it was better to leave instead of suffering through hours of Atsushi and Lucy flirting..
He stood up and said he got a message from the port mafia and that it was urgent.
He started playing 'No surprises' by Radiohead and began walking back.
He couldn't believe what he had just done. He risked everything to just be with Atsushi on a platonic date, imagine what the port mafia would think if he was on a romantic date with him.
However, that didn't matter.... Atsushi clearly didn't see him that way, and he realised what a fool he had been to let himself believe that.
He decided to not think about it and completely ignore Atsushi from now on. He would go back to hating him, like he did when they first met.
He wasn't shocked that Atsushi didn't like him..... I mean... who would?? The man not good enough for Dazai... The man not good enough for anything..

Many weeks went by and Atsushi was growing worried about Akutagawa. He was so happy for him to meet Lucy, because he really liked her. He really did. So why did it hurt so much to see him run away.
He knew Akutagawa had nowhere 'urgent' to go.
The only thing the port mafia classifies as 'urgent' is when the ADA does something to them or the other way round, and if that was happening, Atsushi would be made aware of that..
After at least 3 weeks of no contact from him, he went to visit the man himself. He wasn't sure what he did wrong, and wasn't going to apologise for something he didn't even know he did. He went to find out why he was acting like this.
In his mind, he had an idea of why this was happening, and as much as he didn't like that idea, he might have been secretly hoping that it would happen..
He asked around at the port mafia for him, and even though he is literally wanted by them, they just let him walk around because the port mafia is fucking stupid.
He went to Akutagawa's room and didn't knock on the door, instead slightly opened it. He saw Akutagawa crying on his bed, listening to Taylor Swift..
He was worried and was about to walk in, when he saw that he was on the phone to someone..
'ITS JUST UNFAIR GIN... I KNOW IM UGLY.. *COUGH COUGH* I KNOW HE WOULDN'T LIKE ME.. IT JUST HURTS *COOOUGH* I REALLY AM STUPID FOR EVEN THINKING THAT... I CAN'T EVEN BE MAD??? HAVE U SEEN THE GIRL HES WITH??? I CAN'T COMPETE?? THEY BONDED OVER ORPHANAGE TRAUMA??? I USED TO LIVE IN AN ORPHANAGE AS WELL??? IT'S JUST NOT FAIR?????'
