Nate laughs while his fishing line starts to pull.
Later that day Nate takes a trip into town to grab some lunch at the local diner, He sits in the booth when he is approached by the waitress Diana who is a old school friend of Nate's, She says, Hey stranger, And the two chuckle as she sits at the booth, she puts her notepad on the table and looks at Nate saying, You need to get out of the house more and give reality a chance, Your gonna have to open up to someone eventually you know?.
Nate says relationships are impractical, Plus he's too busy studying on his work to keep any girl interested in his nonsense. Diana puts both her hands flat on the table smiling saying, Well im still around aren't i, she stands up asking if he wants his usual. Nate nods, As she walks away he listens to the news on the television about recent power outages in the area, due to powerlines randomly being knocked over, when a group of military officers enter the diner, and sit at the bar.
Nate looks outside through the window noticing some military men talking while using the equipment in their trucks with the doors open, the passenger turns his head and sees Nate watching, he closes the truck door leaving, Nate in confusion and wondering, Which makes Nate hyper vigilant, Diana brings Nate his food and sits with Nate, He asks what the Military men were talking about, and Diana says they are on patrol, since the powerline incident may been acts of threat towards the town. Nate tells Diana if she's been seeing anything weird around the town lately, She replies saying not really she only takes the route on her way to work everyday.
Nate begins to fade into a daydream, He's having a vision of being in the middle of the woods, as he's walking through the woods tree's seem to be covered in slime, he inspects the slime with his fingers and looks into the distance of fog and trees he sees a light slowly dimming on and off making the area around the mysterious object glow and become dark again,
Nate comes back to reality from the vision to Diana snapping her fingers at Nate to wake up since he was daydreaming, Nate apologizes to Diana replying "he's been so busy working he must have dozed off from being tired" Diana taunts him saying you never answered my question as he wasn't focused. Nate says what was the question again?, Diana replies saying, "I asked if you wanted to go to the bar with me and my friends this weekend, just to get you out of the house and socialize"
Nate says, oh yea sure. Diana replies see you Friday? Nate replies saying will do. Diana says she's going to force him to talk to someone, as she walks away. Nate eats his eggs and toast. Time passes and Nate gets up to put on his coat it starts to rain outside of the diner, he walks to the bar waiting for Diana to finish her shift so he can walk her to her car, As she grabs her purse the two wonder about the weather since sky was clear all day, Nate says the clouds must be moving fast.
The two run to Diana's car and Nate opens the door for her, Diana gets into her car and asks Nate if he ever thought of them as being a couple in school, Nate tells her he never thought of her in that way, He didn't like the idea of everyone talking about each other's relationships, Plus Diana has been Nates friend for years, and has been one of the closest and most supportive person to him, and he would rather not date Diana as he values their friendship too much to disappoint her.
