I step outside of my house and slowly walk over to the new car that my dad got me. Thinking about all of the things that I have done today. Not able to remember some things, I get frustrated and kick at the ground.

I look up towards the forbidden forest and wonder what could possibly be so dangerous that no one is allowed there. My father always tells me not to worry about it and just not to go there. I mean, really, there can't be anything terrible in there.

My mind wanders as I daze off into the distance. Maybe if I go to the edge, just to take a look, my curiosity might go away. I will try tonight.

A few hours pass, and my dad is making dinner. "Hey dad," I say, staring down at the table. "What's up?" He responds. "What is so dangerous about the forbidden forest? You keep telling me not to worry about it, but to be honest, I'm not worried. I'm just curious, " I  say.

"I guess you are old enough to understand," he answers with a sigh. " Years ago, there was a war. A war that destroyed over half our town. It was between us and the albatroses. The forbidden forest wasn't forbidden at the time, and we actually somewhat got along. But something happened between the mayor and their chief. Ever since then, those who went into the forest were either never seen again or would be found dead at the edge of it. So we have forbidden people of going there to protect them, " my dad says throughout dinner.

I didn't ask anything else the rest of the night, and I went to bed after the rest of my chores were done. My dad went to bed shortly after.

After being sure my dad was asleep, I slipped outside and ran to the edge of the forest. I couldn't see much, but what I could see looked normal.

Something moved to my right, but the moment I looked over, a young person starred back at me. I wasn't sure if it was a human or an albatross due to the darkness. I reached out slowly and heard a low growl. The person stood up and the golden eyes beamed into me. I knew right then and there it wasn't human. I also noticed it was a girl. Her long hair reached to her hips and her facial features were perfectly in shape with the rest of her body. In a quick moment she took off running and disappeared into the forest.

I didn't know what to do so I just went home. When I laid down in bed I couldn't get the girl out of my head. So I just laid there and thought of her.
