Izuku looked around in shock and awe at the sights and sounds around him, from what he could pick up from the murmurings of the civilians, the entire town with the exception of a single family was powerless. Quirkless. This was THE biggest group of quirkless people he had ever even HEARD OF existing in the past 100 years, though the biggest concern he had about this was that these people had apparently never even heard of the existence of quirks, believing that the phenomenon that created the mountains surrounding the town and granting "The Madrigals" their powers was magic, even though anyone outside of "The Encanto" knew full well that any phenomena like this occurring anytime within the past 200 years was the result of a quirk.
Suddenly, he noticed an extravagantly dressed young woman trying to run away from a group of kids, all the while singing a song for whatever reason, and decides to help her out.
Powering up to 100% and activating Fa Jin, he moves faster than even the sharpest eye can track and grabs her before moving out of everyone's line of sight and powering down.
"Sorry is I startled you, but I noticed that you looked like you needed help getting away from those kids." Izuku says after deactivating his quirks.
The young woman stares at him in confusion for a few seconds before speaking up. "Uhmmm, thanks. Though, who are you? I've never seen you in town before, and I've met everyone who lives here."
"Oh, right. This is a small town, of course everyone's met everyone." Izuku says sheepishly. "Right then, my name is Izuku Midoriya, and you're right to believe that I don't live here. In fact, I don't even know how I got here. I was running through the forest and then suddenly I run headfirst into a mountain that wasn't there before. I wakeup a few minutes later and find myself at the foot of one of the mountains surrounding this place." Izuku finishes after a few seconds. "Anyways, would you happen to know where I can find one of The Madrigals? From what I've picked up from what the townsfolk have said they pretty much run this place, right? If so, then they might be able to help me figure out where I am."
"I'm a Madrigal!" The young woman exclaims. "My name is Mirabel Madrigal, nice to meet you."
"Really? That's great!" Izuku exclaims. "By the way, what's your quirk?"
"My what?"
"Oh, right, that's not what you guys call them. A quirk is a superpower, a special ability unique to you. Based on what the townsfolk have said, you guys call them 'gifts'." Izuku explains. "They usually awaken at around the age of 4-5 years old."
"O-oh, my gift..." Mirabel says sadly. "About that-"
"She doesn't have one." A voice suddenly says, interrupting Mirabel and causing both of them to look in that direction, seeing another young woman standing at the end of the alleyway they were in.
"Oh, hi Dolores. When'd you get here?" Mirabel asks.
"Just now."
"How much of that did you hear?" Izuku asks apprehensively.
"All of it." Both young women say simultaneously. "I/She have/has super hearing. I/She hear(s) everything that is said or done in or near the town."
"O-oh." Izuku says, quickly coming to the realization that Dolores is another one of the Madrigals. "her hearing is even stronger than Jiro's." He says under his breath, Dolores hearing it clear as day.
"Who's Jiro? And what's so surprising about my hearing being better than their's?" Dolores asks.
"Oh, right, super hearing. Well, the 2 of you wouldn't know this, and you probably wouldn't believe me unless I showed you, but the "Gifts" possessed by your family aren't the result of magic or some miracle, and in fact 80% of the world has super powers just like you do, myself included. Jiro's just so happens to grant her super hearing too, though not quite as strong as yours." Izuku explains.
"W-wait, you're saying that..." Mirabel begins.
"Yeah, you not getting a gift wasn't caused by some mysterious force, it was the result of bad luck on your part." Izuku says while sheepishly scratching the back of his head before turning his eyes to Dolores, who is apparently suffering from an existential crisis caused by her learning that her entire life has been a lie.
"WAIT!!" Mirabel suddenly says. "If that's true, show us yours."
Izuku just shrugs. "I actually have several, I'll show you the 2 most visible though." He says as he activates full cowling and summons a few strands of Black Whip from each hand.
"You-you're really telling the truth. Wow. But-but that means..." Mirabel trails off.
"Other people in the Encanto might start developing them outside our family, which would shock and confusion to spread through town." Dolores finishes. "We need to tell Abuela immediately."
"Actually, I was about to ask you to take me to her so I could ask her where we are, and if there's anything I can help with while I'm here. We can tell her about quirks before I ask any questions, though." Izuku says, causing both young women to glance at each other and nod before turning back to him.
"Yeah, let's do that." Mirabel says before grabbing his arm and dragging him out of the alleyway and towards Casita, Dolores following close behind.
