The very next day was the annual Beach Day celebration. They would have booths with all different games and shops. Sassy went with Zoey to the docks. Sassy saw one of her friends, Emily, she ran over to her and gave her a big hug! They started talking about how they had missed each other and what they were doing over the summer. Zoey saw her friend Alex, Alex was the boy who lived next door. Alex had short hair, but enough to make him look good. Zoey had been Alex's best friend ever since the 4th grade when he moved to Honolulu. Alex walked over to Zoey, "Hey! I thought I'd see you here. What have you been up to?" Zoey looked at Alex and noticed he was smiling at her. "Oh, well I have been just getting things ready for college! Just a few more months and we'll both be free!" Alex smiled and started walking with Zoey to one of the picnic tables, it just so happened that Sassy was sitting their to. "Oh, hey guys! Why don't we get settled for the fireworks display! I hear its going to be awesome!" Sassy laid down on the grass on a blanket she had laid out. Zoey shook her head "Nah, I think I'll go get some smoothies, You guys can watch the fireworks." Emily had ran off with her boyfriend leaving Sassy and Alex alone. Alex slowly laid down on the blanket next to her. "Look at those stars. Aren't they beautiful?" Sassy said to Alex, She knew he loved the stars. For a few seconds it was silent. "Yeah, they are beautiful, but not as beautiful as you." Alex said with a softness in his voice. Sassy looked at him but Alex just turned away. "You really think I'm beautiful? That's so sweet! You know your pretty beautiful to." She said as she nudged him with her elbow. Alex got onto his hands. "I really do mean it. Your the light in my world." Sassy just stared at Alex, Alex stared back. Alex was leaning in to give her a kiss. There lips almost touched when Zoey came back. "I'm bac-, Oh I hope I'm not disturbing anything." Alex and Sassy looked at her and then scooted away from each other. Sassy never thought of liking Alex but the way he said those words made her feel enchanted with love. Alex was so embarrassed he always liked Sassy but he never thought he liked her as a Girlfriend. Zoey sat down in between the 2 and handed them their smoothies. Zoey was just turning around to grab a napkin when she saw the pretty girls. She quickly grabbed the napkin and sat back down. Zoey thought that the girls were creepy and evil, she just didn't admit it to anyone because she wanted to be a nice person not a mean one. They watched the fireworks and went home. Sassy stayed up thinking about how she felt when Alex's lips were so close to hers. Zoey stayed up thinking about what made those girls so creepy.
