BEATRICE AND SPENCER MET AT THE ROSE GRILL AS PLANNED. The two girls had been sat in silence for most of their meeting so far. Neither Bea nor Spencer knew what to talk about. They were both thinking about the news of the night before.

Spencer was still unaware of why Beatrice was in America or why she was so panicked when Bea called her. Beatrice still didn't know why Spencer left their class call early or why she looked panicked while doing so. They both had questions and they both wanted answers. One of them just needed to be brave enough to start the conversation.

"Bea," Spencer was the one to start. "Why are you here?"

"Because I drove here?" Just because she knew it needed to happen doesn't mean she won't make it difficult for it to happen.

"Beatrice, you know what I mean."

"I'm not sure I do."

"Why are you in America? What made you come here?"

It was only a few hours ago that Beatrice had lied to Spencer about her old 'friend' from America. Sure, it wasn't the most drastic of lies, but she didn't exactly want to start her first face-to-face conversation with Spencer by admitting to lying. No matter how drastic that lie may be.

"I'll answer if you answer one of my questions first." Bea proposed.

"Okay, fine."

"Why did you leave the class early last night?"

Now it was Spencer's turn to hesitate. The fact that she was so panicked yesterday alluded to the fact it was something serious, but Beatrice believed in the reward being proportional to the task. If Spencer wanted to know Bea's answer, Beatrice wanted to get an equally as serious answer first.

Bea understood Spencer's hesitation but didn't expect her to answer her as quickly as she did.

"My friend that I lost contact with - she went missing a year ago. Then, last night she, uh, she..."

"Was found? Her body was found?"

"Yeah. How did you know that?" Spencer asked.

"It was a guess," Bea admitted. "but I came back for the same reason."

"Your friend, the one you were thinking about yesterday...?"

"Was Alison DiLaurentis."

"Me too."

"SO, ARE YOU COMING TO THE FUNERAL?"

"There's going to be a funeral?" Bea asked as the two girls reached the front garden of Spencer's house.

"Yeah, tomorrow." Spencer confirmed. "Did you not know?"

"I haven't spoken to anyone who knew Alison for a year. At least, I didn't think I was talking to anyone who knew Ali."

Spencer opened the door to her house, leading Bea through the hall and into their kitchen. On the way back to the Hasting's house Bea had explained the situation with her father and her lack of a place to stay. So, Spencer offered Beatrice a place to stay in her home.

As long as she could convince her mother to go along with it.

Bea had assumed Spencer would give her a while to prepare to talk to her mother about the offer. Normally, Bea had time to plan out exactly what her points were and what she was going to say in order for her point to be accepted. But as Spencer walked into the kitchen with Beatrice and greeted her mother she realised that was not the case this time.
