"The Hollyberry bodyguard cooperation? If you were going to just join a family business by the end of this, I don't see why you couldn't accept my offer."

Crunchy sighs, holding the phone up to his ear. He had made a call to his father about his recent interview. He knows he technically didn't get recruited, but Crunchy had a hopeful feeling about this one.

"Dad, it's not about family business, it's about being independent. I found this job on my own and now I'm planning to live the rest of my life like that."

There was a grumble at the other end of the line," declining a job offer isn't independent, it's  foolish if you asked me-"

"Hey now, let the boy be." There was a familiar voice at the other end of the line, one belonging to Pure Vanilla.

"Hey pops," crunchy says delighted to hear a less pessimistic voice in this situation.

"Hello chipy dear, how has life been treating you?" His voice felt as if it got closer, he had probably taken the phone from his father.

"Uh well, everything been going okay... I think I did pretty good on this interview (despite barely doing anything)."

"Oh really? That's very good, I hope you get the job chipy!"

"Thanks, pops," Crunchy says warmly."Well, I have to go now, cream wolf isn't going to walk himself!"

There were plenty of "byes" and, "I love you" from Pure vanilla while only a grunt from Cacao before hanging up the phone.

Now the room was filled with silent thoughts and cool AC breeze. It was a no-brainer that his dad was upset with his job choice. The man may be a bit indifferent but displeasure was one of the easiest emotions to read off him.

Because he never really suppressed that emotion...

Crunchy loved his father, he really did. But that old-school dominant mindset was a hassle to deal with. The one who suffer the most from this was choco. Cacao wanted the man to build a family like his own, being the head of his house. Choco just wanted the simple life, and his father wasn't pleased.

They had quite a messy falling out and nobody had ever heard from choco since the night he left...

Life had never been quite the same at home after that, nobody was the same after that. His pops Pure Vanilla silently grieves for his son's unknown whereabouts. Crunchy knows that the man is trying to stay happy, but is really running away from everything

And for his father Cacao... The man was pretty had to read. Of course, there had been undeniable regret after the first couple of days of choco's disappearance. But he soon returned to his old gruff form. Crunchy might never know the man's true feelings but, he hopes he doesn't believe he's in the right...

Cream wolf, surprisingly, comes barging into his room. He had his leash in his mouth hoping onto Crunchy bed where he laid.

"I know l, I know," Crunchy speaks petting the animal's head, "I just had some things I wanted to take care of."

The wolf barks, dropping the leash on crunchy lap staring mindlessly happy at crunchy.
And of course, Crunchy picks up the leash attaching it to the wolf's collar.

"Okay there we go, ready boy?"

The wolf barks affirmative.

It was scorching today, the weather being unforgivable. Crunchy was sweating up a storm, his whole shirt was soaked, uncomfortably latching onto his body.

Crunchy could tell the heat was getting to cream wolf too, the was wolf breathing hard and fast, tongue leaning outside of his mouth.
It would probably be best if they made a pit stop. A three-mile walk would normally be nothing to Crunchy chip, but with this heat, it might as well be hell.

They make a quick stop at a local slushie stop. Crunchy had never been to this one in particular, but he supposes it nice to try new places every once in a while.

So crunchy enters the place, alone, unfortunately. Due to the bogus no dog policy which crunchy surely did complain heatedly about (especially when his cream wolf is NOT a DOG). But soon he mellows down due to his goal to be more "calm".
After that whole ordeal, Crunchy orders a wild punch slushie and a little cup of plain ice for Cream wolf.

Cream wolf was very appreciative, almost eating the whole cup as well. Crunchy, of course, stopped him before he ingested it.

Now it was his turn to eat his slushie, the pinkish red colors slowly melting in the sun. Funnily enough, when the colors are melted like this, they kind of look like the hair on that wildberry guy.

It wasn't a weird thing to think, right? It truly did. Yes, Wildberry had been on his mind... More often than he'd liked to admit but- honestly it was just a simple observation.

Finally, they make it home, Cream wolf happily rushing through the front door, making his way to the cool kitchen floor. Crunchy couldn't blame him, if he didn't have the barest amount of self-control he would have done the same thing. But instead, Crunchy chip throws himself onto the couch, basking on its cool surface.

It was truly something until a buzz came from his phone. Crunchy contemplated on ignoring it, after all, it could just be Caramel Arrow reminding him about their gym workout for the hundredth time this week.

Or maybe it could be Choco... He quickly dismisses the thought.

Whether he felt up to it or not, Crunchy takes out the phone anyways, revealing an email.

Oh?

It was from Hollyberry bodyguard corp.

Oh!!!

Crunchy chip quickly opens the message, a newfound anxiety rang through his bones.

It read:

Dear Crunchy chip,
We would like to infrom you that your application had been reviewed and accepted.

You have now been officially recruited into Hollyberry bodyguard corp.

Crunchy chip wanted to scream, run happily and, throw furniture around the house. So he did all those things.

And for once in this new, independent lifestyle of his... He's finally feeling a bit more confident!
