20.5 || Note

Hey everyone! I just thought bc I'm not the best of writers, some things I write are ambiguous and you may not be enough to draw conclusions from the chapters. So, here's a list of small things I added that aren't necessarily important but nonetheless there for a reason!

-rex lapis canonically had a female vessel. he's a shapeshifter and thus had a female vessel when he went incognito. was actually described to be foxy, so i wasn't just saying that out of nowhere in the first chapter haha

-(y/n) mentions that their feathers don't fall unless it is willed, and yet it fell multiple times after an emotional moment with Xiao. Even if they themself don't realize it, they were hoping that Xiao would perhaps follow a trail of feathers and follow them for comfort. And he did

-xiao is always on one side of (y/n) to make sure his spiked shoulder armor isn't in the way of the two of them. I described like twice maybe that he specifically sits to the left of them and that they can feel his arm, and that's bc his armor is on his right side, not his left. it's on purpose hehe

-the song (y/n) played to wake xiao up when he was napping (chapter 13 maybe?) was the song that barbatos played once in the dihua marsh to save xiao. remember, barbatos knows all songs from the past, present, and future--he knew (y/n) would play that song to xiao someday and that it would relax him. xiao realized this, which is why he muttered under his breath about (y/n) saving him once before

-much of liyue (and much of teyvat, really) was changed geologically because y/n used their powers to destroy ecosystems and such after the child's death. a nail of celestia fell into liyue at that time. HOWEVER, the chasm itself was created as a result of (y/n)'s rage after ghuizhong's death. two different times!

-(y/n) writes despite their perfect memory because that is what that child did (technically they sketched, but it was still in a journal). it was something that remained after their death. (y/n) copied the habits of that child to remember patients that die in the same why the child remembered the flowers and the journal remembered the child's sketches

-that is also why (y/n) is gender neutral. it makes it easier to treat patients of all genders and they feel most comfortable without a gender, but it's also because they can't remember the gender of the child

-(y/n) likes being pretty (as conveyed by their beautiful peacock figure and, ofc, their mortal vessel) because, as a flower, they thought the child would feel better seeing them grow beautifully

-someone mentioned this earlier before chapter 20 was even published which is pretty cool haha. basically, (y/n) likes sleeping in the sun because they were a flower and received energy that way. just something that stuck even in their mortal/godly form

-(y/n) always places glaze lillies in ghuizhong's seat when they visit (like in the first chapter). that's because glaze lillies were her favorite flower. fun fact: she met morax in a field of glaze lillies. that's why the cave full of those flowers mean a lot to both (y/n) and morax

-Xiao and (y/n) often squeeze each others hands as a sign of comfort, and it's because that was the first endearing thing Xiao did to comfort (y/n) when they told him the truth of their identity

-(y/n) giving a (favorite flower) to xiao in ch 20 is really important. its like giving their heart to him, basically, both literally and rhetorically. and even if xiao doesn't realize the true meaning, he still felt that it was important and accepted it!
