While second in line Prince N'Jadaka is relieved to see his brother safely back home after the painful ordeal of his father's death, he notices that he feels almost no grief firsthand. Shock, yes. But not loss.
His whole family mourns with broken hearts, but he can't really be sad enough, not with the sharp eyes off his neck and the huge burden off his back.

T'Challa buries himself in his new duties as King. Shuri burrows into her sciences. And the Prince is left with plenty of time to think... and to act.

N'Jadaka is the adopted son and allegedly biological nephew of King T'Chaka, whose lineage was always a topic of controversy in Wakanda. Still, even with his obviously Western accent in the largely xenophobic society, he has managed to become quite a popular figure in the music industry. Performing under the name Ilanga Yama, the Sunset, he is synonymous with the arrival of New Age Western Fusion in Wakanda. N'Jadaka is also qualified in his princely duties as a high-skill fighter pilot, strategist and combatant.

T'Challa is the enigmatic and loyal first-born of the King, and also one of the country's most revered protectors: the Black Panther. His competency is hardly questioned because of his proficiency in his field, but his clear tendency to follow his father's footsteps garners growing doubt from those who looked forward to the change in monarchial policies in the future.
However, the sudden passing of T'Chaka has changed this somewhat in him... but not many have noticed.

Ramonda is a strict but doting mother to all three of her children, and a similarly steering force in the council for her Kingdom. Her ideals reflect that of a morally traditional rule: a product of her early years as a Dora. She is even rumored to have been the only warrior to have bested a Black Panther, namely T'Chaka, in fair combat years ago... an event which had possibly led to their four-decade-old relationship. Now, after his death, she becomes T'Challa's confidante and guide through the trying times that lie before them.

The late King of Wakanda is missed by many as the bringer of a New Era of Technology that boosted the level of power Wakanda had over the fast-developing West. However, him sidelining people and their opinions over decades has earned him enough displeasure to make people look forward to new rule.
His Golden years had been in the first decade of his rule, where most of his reforms had begun bearing fruit; before the alarming attack by Klaue and the subsequent disappearance of his own brother.
1992 was a tumultuous year in his reign, where he was left with widespread unrest in his country and a newly adopted child in his hands. But as suddenly as it had started, things calmed down and he continued with his half-benevolent rule.
As a major change later in his reign, he introduced a foreign-aid program as an act of goodwill to other African nations, where about hundred Wakandans volunteered for spy-like missions that concealed their identity but allowed them to use their better training in foreign lands.
