Aria's POV

These people looked suspicious, but as they explained their story to me, I realised they were indeed telling the truth. I was fascinated, because they were the very 6 campers who had been stranded on the island for months before managing to be rescued. This was great, they had experience with the island, which I clearly lacked. An idea hit me.

"Do you guys have any methods of communication with you right now? Mobiles, satellite phones, anything?" I questioned, hope in my voice. The pink haired girl quickly dug into her pocket and pulled out a ridiculously fancy Samsung Galaxy Fold with an aesthetic pink swirl cover. I had to admit, this girl was dedicated to the colour pink; her hair, her jacket, makeup, and now the phone case.

Brooklynn, whose name I learned just 5 minutes ago, had her forehead creased and was typing furiously into the device. I held back a laugh at her expression, not wanting to get on bad terms with any of these people who I was most likely now stuck with for a while. Brooklynn suddenly let out a happy squeal, one which indicated that we had finally gotten somewhere.

"I tried to text Mae and it says she's gotten our message!" Brooklynn stated, beaming at everyone around her. She quickly drew her attention back to the phone and continued to type with a speed I thought was impossible to acquire. Damn this girl had skill. The smile abruptly faded from her face, as did the light from her phone, which indicated that our only method of communication had gone flat. I groaned, before questioning, "Who is Mae? And what did you manage to send her before your phone died?"

I only just realised that I had been fidgeting with my necklace, the garnet stone pendant hanging loosely below my fingers. Brooklynn rubbed the temples of her forehead before responding, "She's a dinosaur behaviourist who helped us survive on the island and managed to help get us home. I told her we were all on Nublar again for a stupid interview," at this, she paused and glared at two people sitting away from the group before continuing to explain.

"I managed to just send a message asking for help before my phone went flat, so hopefully she'll be able to organise something for us. We just need to survive in the meantime." She chuckled at her own words, realising that it was easier said than done. The quiet girl, Zia, spoke up at that moment, asking "Is this really the safest place for us to be?" I nodded my head to her question. Of course it is. Where else could we possibly go?

Darius' POV

Zia was right. Is this medical station really the safest place we could be? There's 9 of us, we wouldn't survive too long like this. But then again, Aria had obviously chosen this place for a reason. My mind was conflicted, and Brooklynn immediately noticed this as she pulled me in for a quick hug which managed to calm me down a bit.

"This is obviously safe for the time being. However, we won't last for a long time if we just stay here waiting around for help. We need to make this place more..." he hesitated, before carrying on, "habitable. Don't get me wrong Aria, you've done a great job with this station. It's just not enough for all of us to manage comfortably." I winced, hoping it didn't sound offensive to her, but she just nodded, agreeing with my opinion.

She thought about her next words before suggesting, "We can survive here, but only if we can manage to gather a lot more supplies. We also can't just sit around waiting to be rescued. Who knows how long that will take? We need to also look for a way off this island." I realised she was right, we couldn't just hide out in this place waiting to be saved. "So... where do we go now?" Franklin asked, his voice quavering.

"Main Street is bound to have resources. Food will be a tough one to find but we'll manage, as long as we stay together." I explained, standing up and brushing the dirt off my pants. Aria nodded, pulling on her black boots and taking a quick sip of water from a bottle before walking out of the station. "Are you guys coming, or what?"

Ben's POV

I stayed close to the front of our group. Zia and Franklin had volunteered to stay back at the medical station, making the place more habitable for us all. The rest of us were now walking through the density, pushing aside low brances and stepping over fallen logs. Mud had completely encased my shoes and splattered slightly onto my bare legs. The wind had picked up, blowing my brown hair into my eyes.

"So, I heard you have a dino friend," Aria quipped as she walked beside me, leading the way to Main Street. I could hear quiet chattering behind me as Kenji and Darius discussed what we would need to look for. I turned my attention back to the girl beside me and nodded. "Her name's Bumpy, and she is an ankylosaurus. I met her on one of our first days at camp when we went to the lab and witnessed her birth. She fell right into my hands," I grinned at the fond memory.

Aria smiled back at me, her captivating grey eyes piercing into mine. "Did you manage to find her when you came back to the island?" she inquired as I snapped out of the moment. My voice quivered as I spoke, "Yeah, right before we got stuck, actually. She still remembers me..." I trailed off, not wanting to get emotional in front of a stranger. Before she could say anything, I felt a sharp tug at the back of my shirt and realised Kenji had pulled me to a stop.

I looked ahead and noticed we had already arrived. I must've been too engrossed in our conversation, I thought. "Let's head towards the stores on the right first," Darius suggested, tugging Brooklynn's hand along with him as he headed towards the first almost-collapsed building we saw. Darius had explained to us that along with resources, we also needed to search for any other possible methods of communication.

I had just put my hand into a drawer when the ground shook below us. Panic-stricken, we looked at each other and dove right below any hiding spot we could find. I was behind the counter with Sammy and Aria in between us. The thudding footsteps got closer, and I saw Kenji hold Yaz close to him as they shut their eyes, hiding behind an overturned table. Darius and Brooklynn were pressed up against the wall behind a few corner shelves.

I turned the corner around the counter just as Darius peeked his head from behind the shelf. "Oh shit... I didn't think she'd still live here," he hissed.

I mentally groaned as I thought, Hello again Rexy.
