Chapter 10

It was already 9 in the evening when Leni arrived at their condo in Quezon, City. She noticed Aika sitting at their dining table, cueing her paper works.

"Dinala mo pa talaga yang trabaho dito sa bahay?" She murmured, like scolding her eldest.

"Kailangan ko lang tapusin, Ma," Aika said while focusing on what she was doing.

"Sa susunod, iwan mo nalang yan sa opisina mo, dapat pagdating dito nagpapahinga ka na." She said this while giving her eldest a kiss on her temple.

"Yes, ma, kailangan lang talaga to eh. By the way, kumain kana ba, Ma? Wait, I reheat the food," Aika remarked, getting ready to stand up to prepare the food.

"No, no. Tapos na ako kumain sa labas," she said as she sat in front of her eldest.

"Oh, okay." Aika said, then went back to her work.

Leni wanted to speak with her daughter about visiting Palawan once again. Although she is aware that Aika is the one who is always assured in her work with the NGO, she worries now that she need to be away again and Aika may start to doubt her. She really needs to lie again for the sake of her husband. She wants to tell her eldest about their father already, but she knows that this is not the right time.

"Aiks, I have something to tell you sana. I need to go back again to Palawan tomorrow. Nagka problema daw kasi yung project doon sabi nung investor sa akin." She stated, trying to act normal.

"Uhmm, sure Ma, ilang araw ka ulit doon?" Her daughter answered, and that shocked her.

"Hindi ka magagalit?" she asked, still shocked.

"Trabaho yan Ma ba't ako magagalit, at alam ko masaya ka sa ginagawa mo kaya we will support you till the end." Aika said that made her smile.

"Ano bang nagawa kong mabuti noon bakit may anak ako na ganito," she muses to herself.

"Anong oras ba flight mo bukas Ma, hatid na kita sa airport?" 

Leni booked her 10 a.m. trip before she arrived home. 

"10 a.m. yung flight ko Anak, huwag mo na akong ihatid baka abala pa sa trabaho mo, sa driver nalang ako magpapahatid at nasabihan ko rin bago ako umakyat dito."

Aika nodded as she listened to her mother's reasons. After learning that her mother lied again, she is trying her best to restrain her fury from speaking. Letting her mother back there while she had just returned home last Sunday evening was something she wanted to be very angry about, and realizing that she actually had a secret there really drove her hatred to know it. All of what she said was not real.

"Ok Ma, lutuan nalang kita ng breakfast before you leave tomorrow, any request?" she smiled.

"Masyado ka namang sweet today anak pero kahit ano basta luto mo, oks na ako" her mom smiled "Asaan pala si Jill? Naka uwi na ba siya?" 

"Yes Ma, nagbibihis sa taas maya maya baba na naman yan at mag iingay dito." 

Leni chuckled. "Sige pagsabihan ko na huwag kang istorbohin dito. I'll go upstair na I need to pack my things too."

"Sige ma, akyat na rin ako pagkatapos nito." she said and give her mom a goodnight kiss.

After she heard the door close upstairs, she quickly dialed her friend's number.
