12. Careful With Her

We both woke up bright and early, excited for our road trip.
Having 2 week off for spring break meant we really didn't need to rush.

We both got ready quickly, and headed downstairs for breakfast.

"Are you both ready for the drive? Remember to take regular breaks." Mum asks, you can hear the concern in her voice.

"Yeah, don't worry. We've got it all planned out. I'll do the first 3 hours and Eddie will do the next 3. Then we'll find somewhere to camp for the night." I said trying to calm her worry down.

"Then the next day we'll do the same, Juni for the first 3, and I'll take the last 3." Eddie added excitedly.

"Ok, it sounds like you are all set. Here, please take this, remember to eat properly. And have fun." She handed me an envelope filled with money, smiling to me.

After a quick breakfast of toast. Eddie and I were off.
Mum waved us off as I drove Eddie's van out of the drive and down the road.

Before we could get onto the main road, we had to stop for gas and snacks.
Eddie filled the van up and I was incharge of snacks. I got plenty for us to drink and eat along the way.
Eddie grabbed some cigarettes and paid for the fuel.

"Ready?" He asked lighting a cigarette, sitting in the passenger seat of the van.

"Are you ready?" I chuckled at him "you look like you're about to break down over me driving the van!" I teased.

"Just be careful with her." Eddie said holding onto the dashboard as I pulled onto the I70.

The first 3 hours went by quickly, Eddie was incharge of music and we chatted about what we were excited about for in the city.
Finally I put the van into park and turned off the van at the service station, both me and Eddie climbed out of the van stretching and then we raced to find the toilets.
We sat down for lunch in Burger King. Both digging into our burger royales and fries.

"1 quarter down 3 to go. You good?" Eddie asked as we climbed back into the van, this time him in the drivers seat.

"Yeah I'm good, how are you doing?" I smiled to him.

"I'm good, I'm excited to get to Pittsburgh for the night." Eddie told me as he started driving off.

I sat back getting comfy in the van whilst Eddie was driving, glad I was done driving for the day. Slowly feeling myself relax, listening to Eddie sing along to the music he put on.

"Juni. Juuuuuuni. We're here." Eddie says gently shaking me awake.

"Fuck" I say sitting up rubbing my eyes. "I'm sorry, I slept the whole time." I apologise.

"Hey its alright, you needed the rest. I don't mind." Eddie reassured me. "What do you think of our view for the night?" Eddie asks stepping back letting me take in my surroundings.

I gasp "Eddie! It's beautiful." I climb out of the van taking in the view.

We parked at the top of a hill over looking the whole city with the river running below the hill.

"I'm glad you like it, I drove around for ages trying to find the perfect spot." He chuckled to himself.
He held his hand out for me, I took his hand and he led me away from the van down the hill.

"I drove past a pizza place down here, I figured we could get some pizza and sit by the van to watch the sunset." Eddie said as we strolled down the hill together hand in hand.

I stopped walking, tugging on his hand. "What did I do to deserve you, Eddie?" I reached up stroking his cheek.
He smiled down to me, kissing me softly, his hands wrapping round my back. "I'm the lucky one, Juni."
