Bella and Adeline pull into school, both embarrassed by the attention they were receiving from the loud noises emitting from their vehicle.

"Nice ride."

Adeline rolls her eyes as she looks over at the dark skinned boy wearing a red sweatshirt, who had just made the comment.

"Thanks," her sister replied.

Adeline couldn't tell if Bella's response was genuine or sarcastic, but honestly she had bigger things to worry about today. The two girls had their first class together, and so they wandered the halls both looking for their room. Everyone is watching us. This is hell.

"You're Isabella and Adeline Swan, the new girls."

"That's us," Addie responded as she looked at the loud, nerdy boy.

"I'm Eric, the eyes and ears of this place. Anything you need. Tour guide, lunch date, shoulder to cry on."

This guy can't be for real, Addie thought, before her sister responded to him.

"We're more of the suffer in silence type." Thank you, Bells.

"Good headline for your feature. I'm on the paper, and you two are news, baby. Front page"

"We're not news - seriously, not at all," Addie began.

"Woah, chillax, no feature."

"Would you mind pointing us to Mr. Varner's class?" Bella saves the day again.

"You've missed a lot of the semester," Eric says as he leads the girls away. "I can hook you up - tutor, cliff notes,  medical excuse..."

Bella was currently in Gym, while Adeline was on her way to English. Sitting down after embarrassingly introducing herself to the class, Addie noticed the girl next to her had a camera.

"I like your camera, and your glasses. They're super cute." Maybe this will help me make a friend.

"Thank you! I'm Angela. I'm actually on the paper and we're doing a story on you and your sister!"

"Oh," Addie grimaces, "I already talked to someone about it this morning, Eric? I don't think I feel comfortable being a front page."

"Ah, okay," Angela looks slightly dejected. "No worries, maybe Isabella will still want to."

"Maybe." Absolutely not.

Adeline trailed behind Angela as she made her way over to a lunch table. Addie could see Eric, as well as a blond boy, a brunette girl, and, thank god, her sister. Angela sat down and immediately snapped a picture of Bella, who looked flustered.

"Sorry, I needed a candid for the feature," Angela said, sounding hopeful Bella might still agree.

"Feature's dead, Angela. Don't bring it up again," Eric said as he got up from his seat.

"I'm sorry," Bella began, "I just -"

"I got your back, baby" Eric said quickly, interrupting her.

"Guess we'll just run another editorial on teen drinking."

"Sorry. There's always eating disorders, or Speedo padding on the swim team," Bella started, trying to make the girl feel better.

"Actually, that's a good one," Angela said as she shared a smile with the brunette girl, Jessica.

"Kirk, right," Jessica said, "That's what I thought!"

Adelina caught Bella looking away, and followed her gaze to a group of people who were walking into the cafeteria.

Those are absolutely the most gorgeous people I have ever seen.

"Who are they?" I was wondering the same thing, Bells.

"The Cullens," Angela said, as Jessica's ears perked up and she began speaking.

"Doctor and Mrs. Cullen's foster kids. They all moved down here from Alaska like two years ago."

"They kinda keep to themselves," chimed Angela.

"Because they only hang out together," Jessica retorted. "And the blonde girl, Rosalie, and the big dark-haired guy, Emmett, are actually together-together. I don't even know if that's legal."

"We'll they aren't actually related, right? So it's fine," Addie tried to reason with her as she looked at strangers. Rosalie had the most gorgeous blonde hair she had ever seen, and her skin was completely flawless. Emmett looked like he could break one of the tables in two without even trying.

"The little dark-haired girl, Alice," Jessica kept going. There was no stopping her now. "She's really weird. We thought she was with Jasper, the hot blond who looks like he's in pain, but they don't do a lot of couple things, so I think they're just close friends or something."

Adeline turned to look at the two following Rosalie and Emmett. Alice looked sweet, maybe a bit strange, but then again who wasn't. She looked like the kind of girl Addie would want to befriend. Then Addie turned to look at Jasper, and she saw the most stunning man she had ever set eyes on. He looked strong, maybe not as physically big as Emmett, but she would hate to see anyone go up against him in a fight. His eyes were golden, and after quick examination she realized that the others had eyes like that too. Strange, since they aren't related. Jasper's curly blond hair caught a slight breeze and Adeline couldn't look away. She heard Jessica and Bella talking about another person in the group, Edward. She took in the information, but her eyes stayed transfixed on Jasper. That was, until he locked eyes with her. She quickly tore her eyes away, embarrassed to have been caught. When she looked up at him again, his eyes were still on her. Addie sent him a small smile, which he returned. He then went and whispered something to Alice, who also looked her way.

I'm never going to make friends if I keep being a coward, Addie thought. She decided to send a small smile and a wave towards Alice, which made the tiny brunette smile extraordinarily wide, and send a wave right back at her. The rest of Adeline's lunch table looked at her like she was crazy, but didn't say anything.
