I never really paid much attention to the artifact until I held it with my hands. I could sense the energy inside the Forerunner sphere. It appeared as if it had a single eye. It had a similar pattern of that of the Construct. A metallic silver with neon blue river like lines. I did not know what it was but Halsey needed it, and I had to deliver it to her at all costs.

We finally reached the front entrance. When we arrived, we saw total chaos between are military ranks. ODSTs were scattered around trying to aid as much as they could, Jackals were pushing through our Marine lines, and the few remaining Spartan IIIs flanked the enemy Wraiths and Ghosts. They needed our leadership. Immediately, Connie started cussing and barking orders like a sailor. I engaged the from a distance. I mowed Covenant bastards with a fallen Marine's sniper rifle. Remaining Warthogs provided reinforcements for defending the Construct. The Construct could be Covenant territory for all I cared, we just had to safely return the artifact.

Hope seemed lost for us. About ten Marines kept dying every minute. The Covenant forces just kept endlessly pouring from the surrounding hills. I did as much as I could, I slashed through Elite ranks with my energy sword, I even engaged hand to hand combat with a couple Hunters. Connie was nearly exhausted, she singlehandedly destroyed Wraiths, and even took a plasma grenade to the face. Of the other remaining Spartan IIIs (about 6) half of them were killed. We tried aiding the wounded and keeping the enemy at bay, but our efforts were futile. We had taken out a immense part of the Covenant reinforcements, but we were still outnumbered. I had cuts around my chest plate and had plasma burns on my shoulders. The pain coursed through my veins like a polluted river running throughout an ecosystem. My muscles ached from all the plasma I had endured, and my head an had unbearable pain from reviewing all the possible obstacles I had to encounter before completing the mission.

Suddenly, an almost godly Spartan II appeared. His amazing skills saved us all. Covenant fled and terror and yelled, "THE DEMON". He seemed invincible, as if no one matched his strength and power. I could not believe the tasks he was performing. As I lay on the ground, he looked at me and said "You need a weapon?" I responded and was blessed with a sniper.

The Covenant were retreating. Our fellow savior, was already on the move. He got on a Warthog and said, "This is my mission, take the artifact to ONI" Connie and I left on a Pelican escorted by a group of ODSTs. The mission was a success. All because of that mysterious stranger.

"That guy was hot. Don't you think so babe?" Connie said in a mocking tone.

"Very funny Connie. But really, who was he?"

We stood in silence, we did not know who the skilled soldier was. An ODST answered our question. "He's a Spartan II. They call him Chief. Master Chief, although his real name is John."

I didn't know what he was doing here. For some reason, I felt like this wasn't the last time I would see that Spartan II
