Taliya's POV

As soon as Allison and I entered school we were met with Lydia greeting us, which caused me to jump in fright at the loud cheery greeting she gave us.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." Lydia apologized quickly.

"It's alright." I said just above a whisper in an attempt to reassure her.

"Your voice is soft and soothing." Lydia commented in surprise. "Anyways, this upcoming Friday after the game I'm hosting a party, and you two are personally invited."

"I don't know, Friday is family game night." Allison lied, clearly not wanting to go to the party.

"Nope, Chris said he'll probably be working out a deal with his new client." I spoke up, still quietly though, and Allison gave me a look that I understood but I continued on. "I might be there to help him and I can guarantee that somebody will ask you to go with them, considering he's staring at you with lovestruck eyes at this very moment."

Both Lydia and Allison looked where I was looking and were shocked. When the boy noticed he was caught staring he quickly looked away.

"When did you learn about lovey stuff, you avoid it at all costs?" Allison asked curiously.

"It's hard for me to avoid it when that's all you want to watch." I answered, a touch shy. "The show you were watching last night, interesting but too mushy."

"Good to know." Allison said with an apologetic smile.

"That explains why you're constantly looking away from Jackson and I whenever we kiss." Lydia commented. "I'll try to cut back on that in front of you."

Lydia walked off happy that at least one of us is most likely going to attend her party.

"What client?" Allison asked curiously.

"That boy who was staring at you, Friday is the full moon which means he will probably end up ditching you at the party and with your car in the shop, still don't know why it is, you'll need somebody to be able to call to pick you up so you don't have to ride alone with a stranger." I answered honestly.

"Or you could come with me to the party that way I'm not alone with a stranger in their car." Allison countered.

"If I go to a party it's going to lead to a panic attack, you know that." I answered, my nerves already fraying just thinking about going to a crowded place like what I've seen parties look like from the shows that Allison watches. "Which is why I'll be watching from just outside the party, with a car just around the corner."

"Fine, if he asks then I'll agree." Allison relents. "At least this way he doesn't end up going with somebody who won't understand what's going on, but you owe me one."

"Alright, but later today you've got training to get back into shooting shape with your bow, while I've got fight training with Chris." I reminded her on our way to class.

I was right, right after school the werewolf boy approached us and asked her to go to the party with him. She agreed like she said she would, but she did give me a weak playful glare.

"We're home!" Allison called out as soon as we entered the house.

"Any updates on the werewolf?" Chris asked curiously.

"Other than the fact that he doesn't even appear to know what he is?" I asked him quietly, barely audible. "And he's got a date for this Friday."

"But Friday is the full moon." Chris answered confused.

"And he definitely doesn't have any control over himself so he'll wind up stalking the woods." I continued. "Meaning he'll dump the date."

"So, who's the date?" Chris asked, causing Allison to raise her hand nervously. "I don't like it but it's better than some random person, and I'm betting Taliya already has a plan to keep you safe."

"Right on the money, I'll be just outside the party keeping an eye on Allison and her date." I answered, voice still quiet. "Are we gonna do our training first or homework first?"

"Seeing as how it's very likely we'll be getting into a fight this Friday, training takes priority." Chris answered so Allison formed her bow from her necklace and went to the indoor shooting range in the basement, at least that's what I've been told is there since I don't even touch that door.

I followed Chris to the backyard where we got set up with the pads and gloves.

"We're working on technique again, so no werewolf strength." Chris instructed before we started.

Time Skip

On Friday Allison dragged me to the bleachers again and this time they were pretty much packed with people except for two seats next to Lydia. When we sat down I was in between Allison and Lydia which I was thankful for. I noticed how they are all kids from our school just wearing two different outfits.

"I thought a game was between two different schools?" I quietly questioned in confusion.

"This is an elimination, meaning Coach is deciding on who's making first line and who's on the bench for the entire season." Lydia answered me and I nodded in thanks.

We watched as people tackled one another and it looked like fun, seemingly the only thing to do was tackle the opposing team, at least that's what it looks like to me.

"If tackling the opposing team is all there is to it then it must be fun." I commented, not really observing my surroundings anymore.

"That's the first time you've talked above a whisper." Lydia said in shock, drawing me back into reality and making me go quiet again.

"Sorry." I apologized.

"Hey, it's alright, you don't have to apologize for talking." Allison said before pulling me into a tight but gentle hug.

"I'm gonna need some context." Lydia said, confused and looking worried.

"My dad and I found her being abused, she had been stuck with the person for thirteen years." Allison answered. "The person had kidnapped her at the age of three for the sole reason of having someone to hurt that couldn't fight back." Allison hugged tighter, not liking the memories any more than I was. "My dad and I walked into the room when the person had stabbed her in the stomach with a knife."

Lydia's mouth dropped open in shock before she reached over slowly and placed a hand lightly on my arm. The moment her arm had started to move towards me my eyes were locked onto it.

"My dad decided to help her by training her to fight because she never wanted to feel defenseless ever again." Allison continued. "That's why she's so close to me at all times, she's just now warming up to my dad after a month of living with us."

"That explains why she doesn't seem to understand concepts that we do." Lydia commented, making me look down in shame and embarrassment. "It's not a bad thing, to be able to understand several years of culture will take time, even being able to understand what you do in such a short amount of time is very impressive."

"That's also why she's not going to the party, too many people will overwhelm her, especially if she can't see an easy escape." Allison continued. "That's why I placed her between us, that way she feels safer, she might not trust you but at least she knows you so it's better than a stranger."
