Chapter 1: Akuma Assault

Nico POV

I sat on the roof of a building, tossing up and down by folded staff as I watched the city of Paris alone. Despite the fact that I have my trench coat on, I shivered from the cold wind. 

More accurately, from the amount the current situations my friends and I are going through.

Marinette has been akumatized into Miss Fortune, controlled to serve Hawkmoth. The Akuma Class have been giving us a hard time now Chloe's secret as Scarlet Lady has been exposed to the whole of Paris and the world. Even if I do find out how Alya and Lila discovered Marinette's secret, it wouldn't matter because they can deny it thanks to their newfound immunity.

I sighed as I got up from the roof and was about to head home until I saw Miss Fortune heading towards Le Grande Paris. I followed her, hopping from rooftop to rooftop until I saw her about to enter Chloe's room. I used my kunai to knock her off balance, forcing her onto the ground.

"Marinette, I don't want to hurt you." I said as I unfolded my staff.

"The feelings aren't mutual." Marinette replied as she launched her yo-yo at me.

I side stepped and darted towards Misfortune. As I swung my staff at her, she blocked with her staff and forced me back. I regained my footing and parried a flurry of staff swings before backflipping away from her.

Just as I was about to throw my kunai at her, a knife knocked it out of my hand. I looked and saw Punchline along with a large group of akumas, surrounding us. Miss Fortune smirked and made her way to the hotel. Before I could follow her, Shriek fired a sound wave that knocked me back down.

"Guess you didn't learn your lesson from last time. How about we fix that?" Tank said as he bumped his fists together.

I spun my staff and darted towards the akumas, knocking them down one by one. As I took down one akuma, another took their place. While I fought the akumas, the rest charged in to join in. 

One knocked me off my feet while another ripped away my trench coat. I threw an explosive pellet at them, only for Shriek to fired a sound wave back at me. The pellets exploded, knocking me into a wall. I coughed in pain as I tried to get up.

"Aw look. Our little green friend still got some fight in him." Bombshell chuckled.

"Why not drop the staff and give up?" Tank taunted.

"I won't back down. Not without a fight." I said as I went into my staff.

"You're going to wish you had. Kill him!" Tank called.

Bombshell threw a bomb at me, but I swatted it back at him, taking out him and a few akumas. As I swung my staff at another akuma, he caught my staff and punched me in the stomach, knocking me into a building. The akuma swung my staff across my cheek, breaking it once again. As he tried again, I threw a kunai at his shoulder, forcing him back. As he tried to recover, I snapped a kick across his jaw, knocking him onto the ground. Before I could catch my breath, Shriek fired a sound wave at me and knocked me off my feet again.

As I was sent rolling across the ground, I saw Miss Fortune sent flying out of the window and landed back first onto the ground. Koumori and Scarlet Lady landed in front of me with their weapons drawn along with Viperion , Ryuko and Tigress. A group of akumas were about to tackle us, but Tigress fired an explosive arrow at them, knocking them out. Tank attempted to shoulder barge her, but was stopped by Viperion's time stop, allowing Koumori to tonfa slash him in the stomach, knocking him into a car.

Just as they force the akumas back, Miss Fortune called for a retreat, guiding the akumas away from us. Tigress helped me clean up my injuries.

"Sorry about the trench coat, Emerald." Ryuko said as she handed me my ruined trench coat. It was torn beyond repair.

"It's fine." I said as I tossed the remains of the trench coat in the bin.

"Is there a way we can free Marinette from Hawkmoth's control?" Luka asked.

"I noticed that she was wearing butterfly shaped earrings. Maybe if we break them, we'll be able to free her." Kuomori suggested.

"Yeah. Easier said than done." Tigress sighed as she sheathed her bow..

"Won't know until you try, Tigress. For now, let's head back home." Ryuko said.

We exchanged farewells and parted ways.
