Chapter 7: A new suit, new problems

Nico POV

As I arrived back at my house, I went to the upstairs attic and looked at a sketch of my new suit and bo staff and sighed. I thought about Knuckleduster and Scarlet, helpless and defeated by Tank and his thugs.

Killed by Tank himself. Anger swelled inside me.

"Time to get to work." I muttered and started to craft my suit.

Hours passed by as I tirelessly made my suit, a black and green jumpsuit lined with triple weave kevlar and flexable leather, testing out my staff, which can be doubled as escrima sticks, like Scarlet's, and making a pair of red gauntlets with knuckledusters, similar to Knuckleduster.

As soon as I finished, I unleashed a small sigh of relief and looked at my new suit, smirking with pride. The alarm on my phone went off, startling me.

"Guess I better get to school ASAP." I said as I took a quick shower, got dressed, placed my suit and kali sticks inside my duffle bag and left the attic.  

As soon as I arrived, I noticed that Daphne was on her own, looking at an arrowhead necklace. I patted her on the shoulder, starling her.

"Sorry I scared you." I said with an appologetic grin.

"Don't worry about it. I was looking at this." She said as she showed me her necklace.

"Was that your mother's?" I asked.

"Yeah. Turns out she, along with my aunt, is an assasin and this belonged to her. Also, my father never died from cancer. He was assasinated. Now, my mother is God knows where she is and here I am, sulking over the fact that I was living a lie." She said.

I took in what she told me and sighed.

"I'm sorry."  I said.

"It's fine. I just don't know if I can look at my aunt the same way again. She's lied to me my whole life." Daphne said.

I wrapped my arm around her shoulder.

"But, I don't think you should hate her for it. I mean, she pratically raised you when you was a child. Maybe she did it to protect you." I said.

Daphne sighed and rested on my shoulder.

"I don't think I can bring myself to hate her even if I wanted to. She's been there for me ever since Beth was killed. She even pleaded guilty at the jury, but they didn't listen." She said.

I didn't know what to say, not that even mattered because Katherine and her cronnies showed up and laughed at us.

"Aw look, the two lovebirds." One of them mocked.

"Why don't you get a room already?" Another added.

"Yeah. Make like your adopted parents and your mother and dissapear." 

I was about to get up, but Daphne stopped me and gave me the "I got this" look and stood up, glaring at the group.

"I know why you guys picked on me and everyone else. It's because you think we're easy pickings. Well guess what, I'm not that kind of girl anymore. If you want, we can settle this here and now. Because I'm done being your punching bag." She said.

Katherine scowled at her, while I let out a small grin.

"No one stands up to the likes of me and gets away with it, Atermis. And you're going to see why." She growled and threw a punch at Daphne, she dodged and eblowed her in the jaw.

The crowd started to watch as the two girls fought. Kathernine tried to kick Daphne, but she caught her leg and pulled her towards the ground, forcing her to do the splits. Everyone groaned as Katherine gritted her teeth in pain. Just as Daphne was about to deliver the finishing blow, one of her friends got her in a Full Nelson lock.

"Hands off!" I shouted and snapped a kick at his back, forcing him to release her. He turned around and made a grab for me, but I deflected his hands and headbutted him in the nose, knocking him out cold. Katherine got up to swing both hands at Daphne, but missed.

I looked over at Daphne, who kneed Katherine in the gut and snapped a rolling thunder kick across her jaw, knocking her onto the ground.

"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!?" Ms. Mendeleiev  demanded.

"Daphne started beating up Katherine for no good reason." Alya called.

"Cut the crap! She was hurling insults at our family. When Daphne stepped up to defend them, she started hurling punches." Felix protested.

30 minutes later

"Great. Now, we're stuck behind after school to clean up the store room. No thanks to the shitty Principal." I muttered.

"He's even worse than Damocles." Marinette sighed.

"Anyway, who did you give the miraculous to?" Felix asked.

"The bee miraculous to Chloe, the ox miraculous to Nino, the tiger miraculous to Juleka, the dog miraculous to Felix and that's it. No doubt that Hawkmoth's about to start the ritual." Marinette said.

"Then, let's get to it." Daphne said.

"What about the store room?" Felix asked.

"No time for that. And besides, it's high time that Lopez get's what he asked for. Working along side Hawkmoth and screwing over other students like a con artist." I said.

As agreed, we decided to meet up at Le Grande Paris to prepare.
