"I know we haven't known each other that long but I love you"

Those words were on repeat on your head before Joe was taken to have a few more scans to make sure he was okay, you didn't get the chance to say it back but you wanted to so badly. The guilt of everything that happened and not telling him that you love him too was eating you up inside.

After a couple more scans they finally allowed Joe to get ready to go home you helped him get dressed the best you could without hurting him. And got a taxi to your place.

The drive was pretty silent you didn't really know what to say, you didn't want to make the situation any worse than it already was, maybe he didn't mean what he said maybe it was just the spur of the moment type of thing.

*A few moments later*

You was almost at your place and you hear Joe whisper "I'm sorry" which left you confused so you turn to him and grab his hand in yours "why? What for? You didn't do anything wrong if anyone should be sorry it's me"  you say trying not to tear up while still in the taxi you were almost home and was trying your best to keep yourself together. "I'm sorry I told you I love you it's too early I understand if you don't want to say it back and don't blame yourself for anything that's happened nothing is your fault I promise you princess" he says now intertwining your hand into his, you stayed quiet for a little while and kept your eyes on both your hands "Joe I do love you more than anything I'm sorry if I gave off any other type of idea I was just so shocked in the moment that you felt the same as me that I was completely speechless I-" before you could finish off you felt his soft lips latch onto yours. Once you stop kissing you pull back and bring his hand to your lips and kiss them "I love you Joseph Quinn I really do" you whisper looking down not sure if he heard you.

He let go of your hand and put his arm around you and bringing his lips to your ear "I love you more y/n y/l/n and I will protect you for as long as I live" as those words left his lips you both look at each other and don't leave eye contact until you both latch onto each other's lips again and just kiss for a couple minutes until you both lose your breaths.

*get to your place*

We both get in and realize that Joe didn't have any clothes with him to change into. All he really had was what he was wearing, "I'll go get your stuff tomorrow or I'll just buy you some new clothes" you say panicking making Joe giggle at how stressed out you were at him not having anything to wear.

"It's okay princess don't worry I'll just put these back on tomorrow as long as I'm with you nothing else matters" he says bringing you in and leaving a kiss on your forehead.

You both go into the kitchen for a while. You cook him something up to eat because you both haven't eaten all day you decided to just go with a Shepard pie and maybe a couple muffins for dessert you didn't really have anything fancy in since you wasn't really expecting to have a guest over.

You put his plate in front of him and have yours you just sit in silence for a little while you didn't want to disturb him eating but before you knew it "how are you feeling?" He asks you while your staring down at your food you've had a really long day you've hardly touched your food because of the amount of stress and worry that was lingering in your body.

"I'm fine what about you? you're more important than me" you say scanning his face looking over the stitches and the bruises all over his face "I'll be fine don't worry princess as long as you're okay that's all that matters to me" his words made you exhale really hard you just wanted to break down all over again but you couldn't you had to be strong for him. If he's okay you got to be okay right?

After the meal you both just decided to hold each other you can tell he was trying to be strong for you and you for him, you felt like you ruined everything whereas he felt like he didn't do enough to protect you. But your ex was now behind bars hopefully forever after everything he put you and now Joe through, Joe has just lost everything all his belongings and he doesn't seem to be phased at all just at the thought of you being okay was enough for him and you didn't understand that because you've never had this type of love before. It was as If love at first sight was actually real?
