Hazel

Hazel walked down through New Rome with Frank. They'd finally had a break from Praetor duties, so they decided to go on a date. It wasn't very fancy, just a couple of mochas and a walk around the city.

But, Hazel loved that she could spend time with Frank. She would honestly rather go for a cup of coffee than a fancy dinner anyway.

Her arm was hooked through Frank's, her free hand carrying her to-go cup against her chest. Her head rested on Frank's arm as she was a little too short to rest her head on his shoulder.

A soft smile rested on both of their faces as they relished in the rare calmness that surrounded them. The streets weren't very busy. It was late evening and only a few shopkeepers were still up, closing shop.

Frank lead her to a park bench surrounded by architecture Hazel knew Annabeth would just marvel at. They finished their coffee, talking about everything and nothing and just enjoying spending time together. Of course they spent time together as Praetors, but it wasn't the same.

As they walked back to their sleeping quarters, Frank admired his girlfriend's features. Hazel's face glowed in the moonlight, her gold eyes soft, but fierce. Her purple praetor robes covered her Camp Jupiter shirt and jeans.

"What?" Hazel asked with a breathy laugh, looking up at Frank. He hadn't realized his mouth was slightly agape as he pondered what he possibly did to make Hazel love him.

Frank cleared his throat and shook his head quickly. "Nothing." He waited a few seconds after answering Hazel's questioning look. "You're just really pretty."

"Oh." Hazel blushed. "Thank you." Frank nodded, his face tinting red, too. It was just then that he realized they had stopped and were standing exceptionally close to each other.

He thought about leaning in, given Hazel hadn't continued walking. So they just stood there staring into each other's eyes, neither one of them moving. Finally, Hazel realized she would have to move first.

She rose slowly on her tippy-toes and connected her lips with Frank's, in a soft sweet kiss. Frank's arms wrapped around her waist while Hazel's hands rested on his chest.

"Thank you for the coffee." Hazel whispered as they pulled away. Their faces still rested mere inches from each other, neither of them wanting the moment to end.

"Of course. I think we both needed it." Frank replied softly. He leaned back in for another kiss and Hazel thought it was like a dream. A fairytale almost, but with demigods instead of royalty.

When they broke away for a second time, they each finished their walk back and went their own ways. Each was smiling like a lovestruck idiot as they said their goodbyes. It was moments like this Hazel wished would last forever.
