Jimin gets sent in a religious camp by his parents and there he meets Jungkook, an undercover psychology student running an impressive mind analysis project. Jungkook takes Jimin under his wing and opens his mind on life. The boy ends up becoming the definition of Jimin's happiness and he honestly isn't half mad about it...

Jimin sighed hence for the 100th time since he first got into the car. He was 19, and still, his parents thought it was the right decision to send him to a fucking religious summer camp. He was technically a legal adult at this point, but with little to no money and an un existent job, he was nowhere near getting out of his parents house yet. Earlier during the year, Jimin's very religious parents had caught him watching a movie in which the main characters were in a gay relationship , and since then it all just went down. Big boring discussions lead to big boring decisions and now Jimin was on his way to a summer camp that he was clearly not gonna enjoy and that most likely would just decrease his already very few hopes in humanity. He seriously had nothing against religious people. His life motto had been "you do you boo" for the longest time by then. The only thing that ticked him off about very religious people, is that they often seemed to try to smother people in their lifestyles and beliefs.

He'd already begged his parents a good hundred times to not send him there, but their rage for heterosexuality had already won the decision over. After a very much boring half of an hour of riding in a very much boring car, they finally arrived at the camp. The first obvious red flags were the two human sized cross sitting on each side of the entry of the site. His father parked himself on the side of the camp entry.

- You can go now Jimin. Get your bags out of the trunk and see you in two weeks...

- Wow, that's all I get?

- That's all you deserve as of now.

Jimin couldn't help the pang of sadness that attacked his heart at the comment from his dad. He knew the man could not accept his sexual orientation because of their religion, but he couldn't believe just how much it changed the way he saw him. His mother was over all just a notch better. She didn't accept it, but at least she still hoped for him, if that was even positive at all.

Jimin watched as his father drove away almost in a hurry. His eyes stung with unshed tears and his throat burned with the need to let out a sob. " come on Jimin, don't waste your tears on people who don't deserve them." he spoke lowly to himself but could still feel a single tear leaving his eye. He let out a frustrated sigh and wiped it away harshly. He looked around himself, feeling utterly lost. How did he even land in a religious camp? A religious camp for adults at that... his thoughts were interrupted abruptly when a hand landed on his shoulder, followed by a small "Hi!" Jimin turned around in shock with a hand over his heart. The sight in front of him had Jimin quite surprised. The other man was a young adult too. He was tall and quite muscular. His handsome face came with the sweetest pair of doe brown eyes. "Oh gosh you scared the shit out of me" Jimin let out without thinking much. To his surprise, instead of being offended by Jimin's bad language, the other boy only chuckled lightly before speaking again. "Sorry for that man...I just saw you looking pretty lost from over there, so I decided to come introduce myself. My name is Jeon Jungkook." Jimin let himself smile widely at the boy in front of him. If everyone here was like him, he told himself maybe it just wasn't gonna be so bad after all. "Oh, well I'm Jimin, nice to meet you." " nice to meet you too Jimin. Uhm...if it's not too indiscreet, are you alright? You looked quite frustrated just moments earlier." Jimin blushed and looked away in embarrassment, his orange hair covering one of his eye. " right, uh...it's nothing, really. Don't worry about it." Jungkook looked as if he'd wanted to ask more questions, but he refrained himself and nodded softly. "Alright then, come with me if you'd like, I can show you around a bit before dinner time." Jimin nodded with a light smile playing on his lips as he invited Jungkook to show him the way. The two boys started walking together in the direction of the camp, making small talk as the sun started to set above them. "So Jimin, is it your first time here this year?" Jungkook asked softly as they made their way around a camp fire that had just been set by an older man Jimin assumed was one of the camp's staff or something. "Yes actually, what about you?" he asked back and couldn't help his gaze from landing on Jungkook's beautiful lips as he answered. "For me it's the second year. May I ask why you decided to come here? If it's not too personal of a reason at least" "I uhm..." Jimin started. He pondered about telling the truth for a while, and then decided against it because the idea of ruining his possibly only good relationship for the next two weeks wasn't really a good one to him. "I actually came here because I wanted to meet new people that shared my undying passion for god..." was the only good reason that came to his mind and he groaned internally at just how bad that actually sounded out loud. Jungkook let out a small laugh that Jimin was not expecting and said boy looked up with pink cheeks. "You're lying...I know that for sure, but if you don't want to reveal the real reason to me I don't mind at all. If it helps, I'm kind of more like a spy around here. I'm actually an atheist. I trust you to not tell everyone though." Jimin let out a surprised sound but it was soon followed by a relieved sigh. Jimin looked around again, to see if anyone was close. They were now walking around the dorms of the camp and it seemed pretty much empty. He looked back up at Jungkook with a shy smile "I don't really know if I should tell you this, but I guess if what you're saying is true then I have less to worry about" Jimin spoke and was delighted to see the bunny smile taking over Jungkook's lips. "So?" Jimin sighed before speaking again. "Uhm...I didn't come here by choice. My parents sent me here" Jungkook turned to him in amused surprise. "Aren't you a bit old for that shit?" Jimin chuckled in embarrassment and scratched the back of his head, still wondering how to spit out the remaining information. "Yes actually, but since I'm still dependent of them, they can do pretty much whatever they want. And so, when they found out...when they found out I was gay, they pretty much freaked out." Jungkook stopped in his tracks at that and Jimin scolded himself in his head. Wondering if he'd already ruined it all. But when he turned around carefully to see Jungkook's reaction, he was surprised again. The boy had a soft smile, and he was looking at Jimin with an indescribable expression. His eyes hinting something Jimin couldn't understand. "Aaaah, so that's the reason~ Don't worry, your secret's safe with me. As long as you don't throw me under the bus, I won't do it to you..." Jimin felt relief wash over him in warm waves. His smile coming back even stronger. "So what are you spying on about?" the orange haired man asked curiously. Jungkook looked at him with that amused smile again. It just looked so goddamn hot and Jimin wanted to rip it off...or not? "Well I'm more here to, like, learn? Study? I'm studying psychology, and I found this camp last year. I thought it would be fun to learn about religious people and their mindset. So, I came here and kinda fell in love with the place. Not because of the people or the theme, but just because in here you pretty much do whatever you want. They don't really force you to do the theme activities and let you do whatever. I really love just walking around, going to the lake. I just like the "escape" side of this place. And the beds are surprisingly comfortable" He ended his explanation with a small laugh that Jimin couldn't help but to reciprocate, his eyes forming little crescents without his own accord. Jungkook took his time to analyze Jimin's face thoroughly. He couldn't lie...He was one of the most charming men he'd ever met. "Your eyes are beautiful when you smile" The compliment came out of Jungkook's mouth easily, but Jimin almost choked on his spit as he heard it. His cheeks burned as he looked back up at Jungkook, confused but happy. "Ah...uh, thank you so much?" The taller boy laughed softly at Jimin's expression. "Are you not used to receiving compliments? I'd have thought the opposite" And again, Jimin was left a blushing mess. His head hanging low as Jungkook continued to laugh. "Alright shy boy, It's dinner time. Come on or we'll be late~" Before Jimin could completely digest his embarrassment, he was dragged away to an old looking canteen that strongly appeared to be in need of a reconstruction. " Here is the place where you'll be eating for the two weeks to come gentleman, I dearly hope you will enjoy the questionable fish we serve every Friday." "You're the only person I've ever seen that actually sounds good in Times New Roman...Bravo, and I will make sure to eat every piece of that delicious fish you mentioned." The two boys laughed as they made their way into the canteen. The orange haired boy thought about how he'd never made a friend this fast before and all it took was for him to go to a religious camp for it to happen magically and couldn't help but feel giddy. Jungkook smiled at his joyful expression before passing him a plate he'd just filled with the very dry looking egg fried rice that was disposed on the serving table as the main dish. Jimin thanked him softly before turning around to look at where he'd have to sit. He just now realized how many people were staring at him and felt uncomfortable even as their eyes drifted away when he turned around. There were mostly middle aged and older people sitting around in the small canteen and every seat seemed to be taken already. He also just now realized how dumb he looked with his still very present bag of belongings that he carried around for about half an hour by now. He didn't know if the looks he received earlier were curious or judgmental, but either ways he didn't really feel welcome. Jungkook seemed to realize quite quickly and leaned in to whisper softly behind his ear. "There are picnic tables outside where I like to eat usually. Would you like to join me?" The feeling of Jungkook's low voice whispering so close to his ear had shivers running down the poor boy's spine and a feeling he'd feel shameful revealing stirring low inside of him. "That'd be greatly appreciated actually..." and just like that, the two boys walked right back out of the canteen under suspicious looks and curious eyes. Jungkook lead Jimin carefully through the trees behind the canteen and to a part of the site where two simple picnic tables seemed sad and lonely. "I present to you, my eating safe space. Here you can escape the eyes of middle-aged religious people who see you as a rebellious teenager that was sent here for rehab AND the evening prayer followed by the religious song that could use a splash of modern life..." Jimin laughed out loud at Jungkook's weird humor. They both sat down at the table and Jimin let down his very heavy bag beside him on the bench. "Bon apétit!" "Bon apétit to you too" the two boys started eating in comfortable silence the dry egg fried rice. "Oh yeah I totally forgot to tell you about the rooming arrangement" Jungkook spoke as he took notice that Jimin still had his bag with him. Jimin hummed curiously while munching on his food. "We sleep in wooden cabins. They're a bit deeper into the forest. There's usually two or three people in a cabin and there's many of them so if you want, you can come into mine, it could be fun, and also it could ensure me of not having to sleep with the same guy from last year. He wasn't a bad guy or anything, but he did snore like a monster, and sometimes he'd stop breathing for a while. It was a very stressful experience" Jimin's lips parted in a melodic laugh that had Jungkook smiling softly. "Why not? If I can save you the painful experience...I've been told I'm a very calm sleeper." "Well now that's fortunate...I'll show you there after we finish eating" Jimin nodded while taking another mouthful of rice. "Why is this so different from other camps? I've been to a summer camp before, and we were forced to do all kinds of weird activities. This looks more like just a place to stay around for two weeks. " Jimin spoke after a little while "Well that's because the "activities" stop at 4 pm. People aren't forced to do them because the staff and management team assume that everyone will do them anyways. We're kinda like outsiders here, but most people mind their business in general. After dinner, they start a fire and talk for a while and sing. It's just over all very peaceful, and I'm thankful for it since I don't really feel like praying to an hypothetical god that I don't absolutely believe in every day." Jimin chuckled lightly and nodded in understanding. "Don't people ever ask you why you're here?" Jungkook shrugged. " Some do, but they're often satisfied by the short answer: I like the atmosphere and the people are so kind~ In that weird scratchy voice I make when trying to cover the truth." Jimin felt like absorbed by what the boy was saying even as he was simply answering his question. It was something about his soft voice and weird humor that had the orange haired boy so invested. "I'm really happy to have you here really... I'm kinda socially awkward so I don't know what I would've done if you weren't here, or how I would have survived alone in this place. I thought I'd lost you prematurely earlier when I told you the reason I was here and almost had a heart attack" Jimin explained after finishing his last mouthful of rice. "Why would you thin-....ah yeah I guess I get why you would have thought that. But don't worry, I've always been very open, I'm pan. When I was young, I was confused as to why people didn't like all genders. In my mind it was the norm you know?" Jimin laughed at his expression. "I feel a lot safer with you around...thanks" Jungkook smiled at him with a gaze full of sincerity. "I don't necessarily think you would've been in danger without me around...but I'm happy that you can find comfort in my presence I guess"
