The Lone Wolf's Pride

Chapter 1: The Breakage

It was an unusually hailing day, but Hailey and Jasmine were out hunting as usual. Oh how fast they ran! Hailey and Jasmine were having a blast! They were so immersed in the moment that Jasmine blurted out something rather uncharacteristic.

"Hailey! It's you and me till the end." It was such a quick comment, but it stuck with Hailey once Jasmine said it.

"What about Eileen! Are you betraying her?" Hailey responded in a joking manner. Jasmine gasped upon hearing them say that.

"Heh, I'm going to tell Eileen that LOL!" Hailey then started running back to the pack's den.

" Wait-! Hailey NOOOO." growled Jasmine, as her taunting friend went up ahead. Why did Hailey joke about that? They knew about her undying loyalty to their alpha, Eileen, so why...?

Back in the den, everyone was doing their own things. Amary was napping in the corner, like they always do. Next to her, Alpha Eileen was doing her own personal duties in silence. As for Floen, he was out of the den, not present in the current moment. From the distance, the sound of footsteps quickly was noticed as Hailey and Jasmine arrived. Hailey ran over to Alpha Eileen, ready to tell her about Jasmine's "betrayal".

"Eileen, Jasmine is abandoning you for me." Upon hearing Hailey, Amary looks up giving a surprised face. Then shortly goes back into their deep slumber.

"It's not true!!" Jasmine retorted, panting as she caught up with Hailey. Alpha Eileen looks up, bewildered at Hailey's sudden claim.

"....!? What... do you mean?"

"I would NEVER abandon you Alpha Eileen I'll follow only you till the end." Jasmine declared. Hailey glanced back at Jasmine, a little hurt from what she said.

"I know you wouldn't, Jasmine. I know Hailey's lying. I trust you" Eileen said.

"You said you and me together until the end to me Jasmine..." Hailey said almost in a whisper. Jasmine quickly glanced back, giving a regretful look.

"Thank you Eileen." Jasmine said, slightly bowing her head.

"She said the Raze and Killjoy reference, and when I mention you Eileen, she panicked." pushed in Hailey.

"Because you're wrongly framing her." Eileen hushed, glaring at the emotionally pained wolf. Jasmine turned to Hailey with a deep pain in their eye, but quickly avoided eye contact.

"I only told you that because we were playing together as partners. Teammates." the timid wolf stammered. This can't be happening, Hailey thought. Was Jasmine really going to break off their deep friendship just for some alpha?? All those hardships and emotional times they went through together... did that mean nothing to her!?

"Don't lie (laughing with tears emoji)" Hailey felt their heart crack. No amount of words could tell how bruised they were. Alpha Eileen massaged their forehead, feeling a minor migraine coming in. She couldn't believe that one of her wolves was making a ruckus and really had no patient to deal with this.

"I'm... I need some time alone."

"EILEEN NOOOO" said a voice from afar. Floen was seen running towards the den, his mechanical legs covered in frost. "We are a PACK we would never betray each other. Together we are... STRONGER."

"F-Floen!" Eileen exclaimed, her eyes gleaming of passion. "Your dedication has moved me. We are stronger together no matter what."

"Literally! I would never betray the alpha." Jasmine butted in.

"Anything for the pack." added Floen. Hailey was baffled. Not only one, nor two, but three wolves up against them. How fascinating.

"Ok!" Hailey exclaimed turning their back against the pack.

Floen scowled.

"OKAY??!!!! After almost tearing our pack apart!?"

It was then Eileen begin standing on her 4 legs.

"Hailey... do you... hate me?" she said with a mix of sorrow and guilt in her eyes. Hailey put their hand over their mouth to giggle, but also trying to hide their dejection. Floen took their stance infront of Eileen, his engines beginning to turn on.

"GET BEHIND ME EILEEN."

"I'm so silly sometimes." murmured Hailey.

"Your alpha is hurt, and you're laughing?" hissed Eileen. Both Eileen and Floen gave a scorn look to Hailey while Jasmine went and hid behind the alpha. Hailey then had enough.

"You know what. Who decided that YOU were MY alpha." Hailey snapped. As everyone gasp, a gush of wind flew into the den. The hail was pouring even harder, and it was getting darker as well. "I never agreed on anything."

"HOW DARE YOU!!!" Floen roared, tackling Hailey as his leg transform into an engine. Hailey fought back, swinging their paws and using their weight to get back at the transformer wolf. They then swung their final blow, flinging Floen down to the ground.

"I DON'T NEED AN ALPHA. I'M A LONE WOLF." Hailey snarled, as they howled to the moon. Alpha Eileen made their way to Floen as he got up on his paws.

"Fine then" Eileen jabbed, looking away. "Have fun living alone outside of the pack." The alpha then begin to lead the mechanical dog away. But before leaving, Floen turns their head to look at Hailey in the eyes.

"We never expected this from you Hailey. Autobots roll out." Floen grunted. Hailey gives a quick glance to Floen before walking out the den. As the lone wolf begin walking out in the hail, Jasmine stared onto their back with guilt shining in her eyes.

"Hailey..."

"Come on Jasmine." Floen hissed. "We can't let this hold us down. we must sojourn on." Alpha Eileen nodded alongside the transformer wolf.

"Let's go, pack. Let's go to our den."

Jasmine slowly nodded muttering out a small "ok", and quickly catches up with the pack. This was the right thing to do... but no matter how much Jasmine tried to convince herself deep down she knew that losing a cherished friend wasn't worth it.
