It was just a normal day, except that this was Hawkins and there was no such thing as normal.

First, it was the cell service. Which started by going spotty in places where it normally shouldn't. The next odd thing was the electricity, and that started out small with brief flashes here and there. That eventually evolved into city-wide blackouts. No one could figure out why these things were happening or what the common factor was between all of the occurrences. Little did anyone know that the town's pretty boy Steve Harrington was at the center of it all.

Now with the reputation of "town pretty boy" one might think that Steve was stuck up or a massive douche, but he wasn't; he was actually very down-to-earth and sweet. Even with all the weird things happening nobody questioned it, that is until the youngest Byers went missing. When Will went missing, that threw the town into utter chaos. In the midst of all that everything else was shoved to the wayside.

The whole town was out searching for Will every night for a week, eventually some people started to lose hope. Steve was not one of them. He still had hope that Will would be found safe and sound.

One night Steve was sitting at his desk trying to study, he put his head down on the desk with a frustrated groan. As his eyelids slowly fluttered shut he saw something. Perfectly clear and still water, which was sickeningly contrasted with drops of bright red. Startled Steve bolted out of his chair and to his window. he peered through the blinds down into his backyard at the pool, seeing no disturbances he made his way back over to his desk and sank back down in his chair.

Once his heart stopped racing he laid his head back down on the cool surface of his desk. only this time as he closed his eyes this time he was met with the source of the bright red droplets in the pool. it was none other than Barb.

Steve screamed and as sound as the scream left his throat he was extremely thankful he was home alone. he shot up out of his chair and in a flash, he was back over at his window. As soon as he was certain that there were no dead bodies in his pool he glanced at the clock on his nightstand. He winced at how late it was, he slowly got ready to actually lay in bed and try to sleep though judging by how the night was going he knew he was in for a restless night. he laid down on the bed and tried to slow his heartbeat down enough to a normal level. Once his heart rate was calm enough for sleep he laid down in his bed. he slowly shook his head and tried to clear his mind from the vision of Barb dying. He sighed and turned away from the door. Soon sleep overtook him and he was out for the night.

The next morning Steve awoke with a start as his alarm rousted him out of a deep slumber. he sat up slowly trying to get his bearings. He rubbed his eyes and stretched trying to wake up, he rolled his neck side-to-side as he groaned. At least it was Saturday and he didn't have school to deal with. He winced as he recalled what happened in the night, he shook his head as if he was trying to shake the memories from his mind. he untangled himself from his sheets as he all but crawled out of bed. He slowly made his way to his bathroom and he grimaced as he stared at his reflection. he flipped himself off in the mirror. he brushed his teeth before heading over to his closet and threw on the first outfit that looked semi-decent.

He pulled his phone from the charger before heading downstairs to make himself something for breakfast. he opened the fridge and grabbed two eggs. he methodically made his way around the kitchen as he made scrambled eggs. once the eggs were finished cooking he turned off the stove and plated the steaming eggs, he put the skillet in the sink making a mental note to clean it up after he finished eating. coincidentally as soon as he finished his last bite of eggs his doorbell rang. with a slight groan, Steve made his way over to the front door, upon looking out the peephole at the chief of police Jim Hopper he opened the door and motioned for Hopper to enter the house. Steve looked a little nervous "Um what can I do for you sir?" he asked confused.
