3: Toothiana's Palace

The Guardianswere alarmed, Pitch is attacking the Tooth Palace. Jack, knowing they won't accept a no, at least not right now, let himself be dragged along. That, and he wanted to ride Santa's famous sleigh. It was as fun as expected. Cherry on top, Bunny was afraid! Sandy took notice of Jack being pleased with this. The sandman was surprised, he never expected the herald of winter to like Schadenfreude.

They arrived at the palace soon after. While Bunny was just happy to be off the sleigh, Jack was impressed with the architecture. The Guardians kept their eyes open for any indicator for Pitch's presence. Jack decided he should this chance to ask Toothiana why she collects teeth.

"Toothiana!", he called out to her, flying up to her, "I have a question if you don't mind answering."

"Of course, Jack, and call me Tooth.", she agreed.

"Why are you collecting teeth?", asked Jack.

"Well, like North told you his core is wonder, mine is Memories. The teeth I collect, they hold memories.", she explained, "I help the children to remember. But for this, I need their teeth. I collect everyone's teeth, even yours from before you became a spirit."

The last sentence confused Jack.

"But I was never a human.", stated Jack, "At least I can't remember an old life. I just remember emerging from that lake and being told my name is Jack Frost by Manny."

"That is... weird.", muttered Toothiana, "We figure this out later, okay?"

Jack nodded, before noting a Nightmare nearby. He decided to investigate. Flying up tot he Nightmare, she just stared at him, before speeding off. A feeling spread in Jack and he returned to the guardians, who tried to hit a mare.

"You like my newest invention?", asked a voice he knows too well. "I used your sand and created these beauties. Far superior to your dreams, Sanderson."

Pitch dodged Bunny's boomerang, just a step to the side and the wood piece missed. Pitch rolled his eyes, before spotting Jack hiding behind awall.

"Oh, Jack Frost! What are you doing here?", asked Pitch. He was shocked, yes, but he kept his cool. "I didn't expect you to associate with them."

Jack just answered, "Oh, I don't want to be here, believe me. I'm forced to be here."

"At least you're a neutral party, at least this.", said Pitch Black.

Pitch than snapped his fingers and the Nightmares rushed into the palace, taking any tooth box and Tooth Fairy they could get. The guardians started to fight them, the most fierce being Toothiana, attacking them with her two swords. Bunny's boomerang also returned, nearly hitting Pitch who again dodged it with a smooth step. Sandy created his Sand whips, they seemed to be the most effective weapon from what Jack saw. North was also cutting edge with his sabers.

But Jack just watched, he doesn't know if he should fight Pitch. On one hand, Pitch was there for him and tried to help him with his split core, on the other hand, Pitch's deeds, according to pretty much any other spirit, aren't something he wants to support. Not to mention, this hellfire ritual. But before he could decide which side he wants to support, Pitch and his Nightmares already had left. Bunny called Pitch a coward, but Tooth was just shattered.

Not only were her fairies stolen, but a night was wasted! She already feels her number of believers sinking. But North had an idea, the idea to help her collect teeth. Jack considered helping, under the condition that she will after this whole Pitch debacle is over, that she helps him finding his memories. Toothiana agreed, of course she did. She needs any help she can get.

Flying from house to house, they collected teeth, leaving coins, for themost part. They made a small contest out of it, of course they did. But all in all they had a good time. It came up, again, if Jack really doesn't want to become a guardian. But North just chalked itup. "When you have your memories back, you will realize your core and that you're a Guardian. Believe me."

In Burgess, they were collecting teeth, like in any other city. They coincidentally try to collect the tooth of the same boy. A boy Jack met, somewhat. Heck, Jack is kind of responsible for the boy, Jamie, loosing his tooth. Collecting the tooth, they accidentally wake the boy. Jamie couldn't see Jack, which disappointed Jack.

Jamie's dog, somehow, sensed Bunny, attacking it. After Jack activated Jamie's alarm clock. Sandy tries to knock the dog out with his sand,but only succeeds after hitting his team mates, Jamie and knocking over a portal Snow glob

They chased the nightmare that was spying on them. Jack in the air, trying to shoot it with his ice powers. After awhile, they faced Pitch...
