Sugarcanestar sighed, her dull eyes scanning the crowd from atop the rock. She glowered at all of the sorrowful cats. The all knew what had happened. Just yesterday had beloved elder Marah died to a mysterious illness. It wasn't pretty, or an easy death. Many cats had witnessed the horrible spasms the poor cat had experienced. The one most pained by it all had been Sugarcanestar. First her father, and now her dear mother was gone now.

"Let all cats old enough to run the moor gather below the Tallrock for a clan meeting," Sugarcanestar called out monotonously, her voice cracking as she choked on tears. "As you may know, my mother, and our oldest elder, Marah, recently passed on due to an unknown disease. May the pray run forever wherever she lie now.

All of the cats below bowed their heads, staring at the limp, dark spruce body in front of them.

One cat in the crowd seemed the most upset. She seemed sickly, almost. Squirrelheart. What was wrong with her? There was no way... She had the disease.. Was there? Had she been there to witness Marah die? Would she die? Was she spreading it to all of the cats around her? Sugarcanestar felt her head pounding at the thought of it all. She was being irrational again. And yet, it seemed her fears were confirmed.

Squirrelheart began to clip in and out of the floor, falling over and then immediately propping back up again with almost no support. Her paws could nearly touch the backrooms. She then stood upright with, again, no support from her paws, before shooting up into the air.

She shot up like a rocket, and none of her limbs moved or even shook due to the shock of her immediate movement. She was just.. Floating. And yet she spiraled and tumbled with the same amount of grace as a constipated tornado.

"Holy shit." Some kit somewhere in the camp said in a monotone. Squirrelheart was immediately thrusted back to the ground, ricocheting off of the gravel and being flung into the wall of the hollow, letting out a cry of pain as she ragdolled into the floor once more.

Gullkit, a small and white-gray striped kitten looked over at her with sparkly rhinestone eyes. He let out a small squeal and pounced on Squirrelheart's violently lashing tail, them both suddenly shooting up into the sky once more. This time, they went far. So, so far. Gullkit came flying back, hitting the ground with a loud cracking sound. He fell over, his fur completely tinted with a pink-red, then disappearing. Just vanishing. and somewhere in the corner of everyone's eyes read: "Gullkit hit the ground too hard."

Squirrelheart came tumbling back into the dirt, ricocheting once more back into the sky and finally disappearing out of sight.

"shes gone"

"what the hell"

"sje'l be missed i guess"
