rain pattering against windows and the loud booms of thunder helped me to sleep, rather then kept me awake. it was peaceful, sitting spread out on the couch in the andrew's house, a book in my hands. archie was taking a nap after his boxing matches, leaving me alone in the house, for his mother was out with one of her clients.
as i turned another page, i heard a thump from upstairs. pausing my reading, i put my bookmark back into my book, standing up from the couch.
"archie? are you alright?" i called, only to get a boom of thunder in response. worried, i rushed up the stairs and ran into archie's room to see him curled into a ball, blanket covering everything but his eyes.
i crouched down beside his bed, running a hand through his hair, watching as his eyes shot open.
"whats wrong?" he didn't respond with words, but rather with the action of grabbing my waist and pulling me into him and under the covers, his legs instantly wrapping around mine, making me feel like a human teddy bear.
"are you alright, archie?" i let out a small laugh as his grip tightened around my waist. the room lit up for a split second, a boom following. he buried his head in the crook of my neck. "are you afraid of thunderstorms?" i could feel him nod. quickly, i flipped myself onto my back, letting his head lay on my stomach.
"do you want to watch a movie downstairs. it might help" i offered, watching as his head lifted from my stomach.
"yeah, that would be nice" he smiled a little as i went to stand up. his hand laced into mine as i dragged him quickly downstairs, his other hand dragging his blanket with him. getting downstairs, he lightly threw me onto the couch, a laugh escaping my throat as he jumped on me. his legs straddled my waist, smiling down at me. quickly, i grabbed his arms, flipping us over so that he had his back on the couch. i latched my fingers to his sides, grinning as laughs came from his mouth, followed by multiple, 'y/n's. finally, he was able to grab my hands, flipping us back over to where we were before. he reached over to the coffee table, grabbing the remote and turning on the TV. he scrolled through a couple movies, still slightly jumping at the loud noises coming from outside.
"how about a horror movie?" i asked. "scream?"
"sounds good to me" he said, finding the movie and putting it on. almost immediately after, he turned around so his back was facing me, letting me wrap my arms around his body. he placed the blanket over the both of us, watching the movie as i started to play with his slightly damp hair.
"you know, this makes storms not seem so bad"
"i'm glad, archie." i placed a kiss to his shoulder. "why didnt you tell me you were afraid?" i asked.
"i didn't want you to think i was a baby. i mean, what kind of boxer who runs his own center is afraid of storms? it sounds weak." he admitted.
"you're not weak, archie andrew's, and anyone who tells you otherwise is full of shit." i placed another kiss on his cheek as i continued to play with his hair.
"your perfect, y/n" he smiled.
"i love you, archie"
"i love you too, y/n. more than anything"
