3rd Person POV

A small child could be seen, sitting on top of a fallen tree
The hot weather outside made her feel like she had a fever

Even when you're not in the desert, Sumeru's weather can still be really hot

This child's name is y/n, she has no parents and looks to be 3-4 years old, even if she can understand what others say, she can't really talk

Footsteps could be heard, getting louder and louder every second
This alerted y/n, so they hid behind the fallen tree

They saw a girl, she had long brown hair and wore a headband with what seemed to be bunny ears

The girl spotted y/n, her eyes widening in shock as she quickly ran over to them

"Hey, what are you doing here?"

The girl asked
Y/n stayed quiet, staring into her eyes

"I'm Amber, what's your name?"

Amber asked
Y/n looked around and spotted a stick that had been ripped off the fallen tree

Y/n quickly got up and grabbed the stick
She then proceeded to write the name 'y/n' on the dirt, it was hard to read, but Amber managed to understand

"So...you can't talk?"

Amber asked
Y/n nodded

"I came here to visit a friend, her name is Collei, do you know who that is?"

Amber asked
Y/n shook her head

"Alright, do you wanna come with me?"

Amber asked
Y/n thought for a moment before nodding and putting her arms up

"You want me to pick you up?"

Amber asked
Y/n nodded

Amber picked up the small child, they weren't really heavy, but also weren't light

"Collei should be here soon"

Amber said
Y/n hummed

"Amber!"

A voice could be heard as a green-haired girl came running toward Amber

"Collei!"

Amber smiled

"I missed you!"

Collei said
She then noticed the child in Amber's arms

"Oh, who's this?"

She asked

"This is y/n, they don't really talk, at least to me"

Amber said

Collei stared at y/n
Y/n stared at Collei

"They're very cute!"

Collei smiled
Amber smiled

"I'm glad to see you're doing well, Collei"

Amber said
Collei nodded

"I'm glad you're ok too"

Y/n looked at both girls and smiled

The trio spent a few more hours together, talking and catching up on everything that was going on, well more like Amber and Collei caught up on everything that was going on, y/n didn't do anything but listen

"Well, it was nice seeing you Collei, I have to go back to Mondstadt now"

Amber said
Collei nodded

"I understand, are you taking y/n with you?"

Collei asked
Amber nodded

"Yeah, I want her to meet everyone else, next time I come to visit I'll make sure to bring her with me"

Collei nodded

"Alright, goodbye Amber!"

Amber smiled and said goodbye as well

When Amber reached Mondstadt, she made her way toward the Knight's Headquarters so she could tell Jean about y/n

She knocked on the door to Jean's office, hearing a faint "come in" from the inside

"Jean, is it okay if I talk to you for a moment?"

She asked as she entered the room
Jean noticed y/n, but before she could ask what was going on, Amber stopped her

"I found them while I was in Sumeru, visiting Collei, that's what I wanted to talk about"

Jean sighed and nodded, urging Amber to explain the situation

"Alright, so, I found them sitting behind a tree, they can't talk but they managed to tell me their name, it's y/n, they were abandoned and I was wondering if we could adopt them?"

Amber asked nervously

"Amber, I understand you're concerned, but how will we manage to watch over both Klee and y/n?"

Jean asked

"Well, y/n looks about 4 or 5, and they're calmer than Klee, and maybe giving Klee a friend would be better for the both of them"

Amber tried to reason with Jean
Jean sighed

"Well yes, but we don't exactly have a room for them, they'd have to share with Klee, and I'm not sure that's a good idea"

After some arguing, it was decided that y/n would share a room with Klee and that Amber would be the one responsible for watching over y/n unless she's really busy

Amber introduced Klee to y/n, and they both surprisingly got along well

Since it was already dark outside, Amber had to put y/n to sleep

"Here"

Amber said as she gave y/n her pyjamas

"Can you put them on yourself or do you need help?"

Amber asked
Y/n shook their head as she handed Amber the clothes

"I'll assume you need help, alright put your arms up"

Y/n did as told, and Amber took out her dirty shirt and helped her put the pj's on

"There you go"

Amber said
Y/n yawned

"Amber, do we need to go to sleep right now?"

Klee asked

"Yes, Klee, y/n is tired and you need to sleep too"

Amber said
Klee reluctantly climbed onto her bed and fell asleep
Amber put y/n on the couch beside Klee's bed

"You won't be sleeping on the couch all the time, this is just until we get a bed for you"

She said
Y/n nodded before laying down and falling asleep

Amber sighed and got up, then turned off the lights in the room and closed the door
