Blood and shadows (a Rogue love story)

An offer

The four stared at Ruby at she walked back over to them. That was the power of a phoenix slayer? She had just completely wiped the enemy of the face of the earth, there was no trace of his existence left.

"If you keep gawking like that you'll catch flys." Said Ruby as she walked past them. Ruby continued to walking the way they came.

"Wait where are you going?" Asked Sting.

"Honestly I don't know. I have to find out more information I can about this new King he spoke of." The four of them ran after her as she didn't stop to talk to them.

"So what he said back there...you adoptive mum...she was their queen?" Asked Sting, this girl was making him nervous. The power she held was ridicules, where all phoenix slayer this powerful?

"Yes, she found me when I was 3 just after my home town was destroyed. It was destroyed by a phoenix, my Mother saved me. I was the only one to survive the attack. She asked me if I wished to learn phoenix slayers magic and I agreed. When I was 11 I left home, at some point all phoenix's have to leave home. I still payed her visits but I had to make it on my own. Then last year I went home and she was not there, she had been taken and the phoenixes...they were starting to act weird. Ever since then I have been trying to work out what is going on, wondering around, looking for anything that I can. That was the closest I have gotten. They usually don't talk as much as that one did."

"You have no where to go then?" Ruby stopped at Lectors question. She turned and frowned at him.

"Clearly not."

"We were wondering if maybe you'd like, to join our guild Sabertooth. It's the strongest guild in Fiore and someone with your strength would do well in our guild."

"From the little I have heard about Sabertooth it hasn't all been that great. I will have to decline the offer anyway, I have a problem I need to solve."

"That's a problem we could help you with." Said Rogue.

"What makes you think I need your help? Dragon slayers are no good against phoenixes I have explained this to you already."

"How exactly do you know we are no good?" Sting blurted out. Ruby's eyes became softer and she looked away from then unable to take their glares. The sad look on her face made Sting regret his outburst. She looked sweet and vulnerable but her expression quickly hardened again. She sighed and turned to walk away again but Rogue was not planning to let her go. He sank into the shadows and appeared right in front of her. Ruby stopped suddenly and glared up at him. The two were so close that Ruby could feel his breath on her face. Neither moved away and Sting and the others came up from behind and surrounded her.

"If your looking for a fight that's something I can give you." Ruby said menacingly.

"We don't want to fight we want to help."

"Why exactly? You don't know me."

"Your a beautiful lady wondering around on her own, what man would not offer his help?" Sting said with a smile and a small blush. Ruby summoned a massive ball of red blood beside her head and sent it flying at him. She aimed it so that it narrowly missed it face. She didn't want to hurt him but giving him a good scare would be just fine. The ball hit the tree behind Sting's head with such force that the bark broke and the tree collapsed. Stung stared at the collapsed tree in shock, she did that without even moving a muscle.

"Don't ever talk to me like I am weak and don't group me with other woman, I am much different from them. If anyone was offering help I would offer it to you. Phoenix slayer are much stronger the dragon slayers."

"Are you sure about that? Have you ever fought a third generation dragon slayer before?" Rogue asked.

"No I have only heard of them. From what I understand they are still fairly rare. A dragon slayer with both a lacrima in their body and taught by a dragon, that's what a third generation dragon slayer is."

"Then you can't know that you can beat us easily."

"I can beat a second generation dragon slayer with my eyes closed, I don't imagine a third generation is so much stronger than that that they could match up to my power."

"Can you beat a god slayer too?"

"Never met one."

"Sabertooth has a lightening god slayer by the name of Orga Nanagear."

"Lightening huh? Lightening and ice are a scarlet phoenixes worst enemy. A battle like that would come down to knowledge, skill and power combined. That battle I cannot predict the out come but this information is not endearing me to enter your guild."

"Perhaps not but it has sparked your interest. Our guild hall is located north west of the sky tower if your near come pay us a visit." Ruby huffed and walked past Rogue and disappeared into the forest.

"Rogue why'd you let her go?" Sting complained.

"Sting she will come. She seems like the kind of girl who likes a challenge. She will come to our guild looking for a fight with Orga."

"You sure sound like you know what your doing, but you think Orga will be able to win against someone like that?"

"No idea but I'm sure we'll find out."

"Yeah I guess. You know even though she was really scary...she was kind of hot right?" Sting said rubbing his head. Rogue smiled to himself.

"That's my thought exactly..."
