"i thought you didn't have friends?"
"i am SO not talking to you."
"you're doing it right now."
"you don't just bring up someone's dysfunctional family."
"you seem chip with everyone else."
"i have daddy issues."
"obviously."
"sorry?"
"you're talking to a spirit. you obviously have some kind of issues."
"fuck you."
tyler sat on the edge of his bed. his hands on his head.
"look tyler. you're cool. but you're a wimp. confront your dad. beat his ass."
"you obviously don't know how this works. you lose. either way. you're abused, left out. kind of crumbled. you lose, you take the abuse, or you get kicked out. you lose either fu-."
tyler's phone rang.
"hello?"
"what are you doing tyler?"
"huh?"
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? OUR ELECTRICAL BILL IS UP ONE HUNDRED FUCKING DOLLARS."
"i didn't do anything, dad."
his eyes swelled.
"fuck you. piece of shit. answer the question."
"i play video games. i eat. i do chores."
"whatever chores you do are shit."
"okay."
"what else do you do? i didn't tell you to shut up, yet."
"that's all i do. sometimes i go outside."
"does going outside have to do with my electrical bill?"
"no but you asked what i do-."
"shut the fuck up."
tyler started crying as soon as his father ended the call.
"you don't deserve that."
"oh but i do."
"you're not the golden child."
"im.. i'm not really a child at all."
"oh tyler."
tyler turned on his nintendo switch.
"tyler."
"i don't really want to talk about it. just.. go do whatever you do."
tyler made his person on animal crossing talk to pashmina.
'hey kidders! nice to see ya.'
and she made tyler smile. tyler loved her. she always made tyler smile.
josh floated behind tyler. watching as he played animal crossing.
"poor tyler, my boy. you'll get your love, one day. isolation will be something you no longer recognize. you'll forget what this feels like. to long for a robotic animal to tell you she loves you. oh tyler."
josh floated back to the attic. he looked out the window and saw tyler's family come home.
"he doesn't deserve you," josh said, peering at tyler's father.
"they don't deserve you."
