Carina was surprised to see Captain Barbossa approaching her. She'd at first been wary of him but after speaking with Narcissa she found he seemed far less intimidating at least to her.
"Good evening Captain," she said politely.
"Evening Miss Smyth," he replied coming to stand next to her. Carina prided herself on being able to read people and from his shifting and glance and uneasy stance the pirate seemed to be undergoing some sort of internal conflict.
"Tell me, how did ye come across that book?" he asked.
"It was left to me on the steps of a children's home with a name and nothing else," she answered and could have sworn she saw guilt in the old sea Captain's eyes.
"And remind me what name that was?"
"The brightest star in the north gave me my name."
"That would be Carina." stated Barbossa and Carina shot him a small smile.
"So you do know your stars."
"I'm a Captain, I know which stars to follow home." He replied. A comfortable silence fell. Finally Captain Barbossa broke it.
"So yer searching for him?" Carina nodded.
"To my knowledge he's all I have left. This book is my only clue. I think he must have been a man of science to have left this behind." The Captain gave a soft sigh.
"And what if yer assumptions were wrong? Say just for the sake of argument he wasn't the brilliant man of science just a thief or a pirate who came across the book. That ruby on the cover'd fetch a pretty price."
Carina paused biting her lip. She'd never thought of it that way. She'd always been so focused on the information inside the book that the actual value of the ruby hadn't really crossed her mind. Selling the one object connecting her to her family was inconceivable. But logically to the eyes of a mere thief the ruby would be a way of providing monetarily for her future.
Mere hours ago her reaction to the Captain's suggestion might have been anger but then she recalled Narcissa's tales of how despite everything he had done as a pirate Captain Barbossa had been a loving father.
"I'd still want to know him. What he was didn't matter as long as he loved me."
Carina glanced at the Captain and saw a half pleading half hopeful look in his blue eyes. Eye that looked surprisingly similar to her own. The old sea captain took a deep breath as if summoning his courage.re
"Carina I..." But his words were cut off by a shout from Henry who had been on watch duty.

"RED COATS! RED COATS!"
Barbossa didn't know whether to curse or bless the boy's timing. Narcissa hurried up next to him.
"Damn them! If there's one thing I hate its a bloody red coat, I thought we scared that lot off."
"Twenty years ago and a different crew treasure," Hector told her before moving away and beginning to shout orders.
"Prepare to fire! She comes to starboard! We shall fight to the last. The Pearl will not be taken from me again" he was going to go down fighting protecting his daughters and his beloved Pearl if he had to. He glanced back at his youngest daughter.
"Stay your course no matter what."

Narcissa may have grown up for 12 years around the navy but her time as as a pirate caused her to completely despise them. Just as the crew was preparing to battle them the British ship was blow out of the water in a giant explosion.
As the smoke cleared all that was left was a burning wreck. Narcissa might have been pleased had another more terrifying ship sailed towards them clearly the cause of the damage.
The ghostly figure of the Silent Mary swiftly approached and Narcissa swore as she drew her sword.
"Out of the frying pan and into the fire." Salazar suddenly swung over onto the ship.
"Jack Sparrow! Jack Sparrow! I've come for the butcher's bill!" glancing across the ship Narcissa took stock of the ship. Henry was climbing down from the crow's nest, Jack was at the stern readying his sword a look on his face similar to that which he wore when faced with the Kraken and Jones, her father had drawn his sword and was still shouting orders. Narcissa moved to protect her sister.
More of Salazar's crew were coming over now clashing with that of the Pearl.
Again, and again her sword clashed though not to much avail. She could throw them off but not really be killed out of the corner of her eye she noticed Gibbs, Marty, and some other crew members had joined the fray.
"Let's be brave and save the Pearl!" Came Gibbs's voice.
"Find that land or we'll all be dead!" she heard her father call.
"What the bloody hell do ya think she's doing?!" yelled back Narcissa kicking a crewmember down the stairs.
"Carina!" called Henry from below.
"Look! The island's ahead!" yelled Carina and looking up Narcissa saw swiftly approaching a mass of land. This seemed to scare the ghosts.
"Land! Get to the Mary!" she heard them yell as they began to run. Suddenly out of nowhere Salazar appeared next Narcissa. Caught off guard he was able to shove her away forcefully and she toppled backwards, her sword flying from her hand and her ankle catching on some rope.
Fear filled her as she struggled to get back up realizing she was helpless to defend her sister and Henry who had raced up to challenge Salazar. She saw her nephew yank Salazar away from Carina and the wheel as they crashed into the land Salazar grabbed Henry and leaped across to the Silent Mary taking the boy with him.
