So you had to steal for food, so what? So you had to hide almost every day so palace guards wouldn't find you, so what? Agrabah was a tough place to survive in if you were homeless and poor. If you weren't royalty, worked for royalty, or were a merchant, you had almost no chance in the town. But you were 18 and you had been living like this all your life. You were used to it.

Luckily for you, your cousin was Princess Jasmine, and your uncle, the Sultan, had offered for you to come live in the palace, but you liked the life of adventure you had now instead of one where you would be sitting in a palace all day.

You had just snuck up to a fruit stand and was about to grab some dinner when you saw a little boy. He was reaching up at a fruit stand, trying to grab an apple. You walked over to him.

"Aw, you must be hungry." The little boy looked up at you with a pout on his face.

"Here you go." you said and handed him an apple. You started to walk away, but the shopkeeper had noticed what you did.

"You'd better be able to pay for that." the shopkeeper said with his hands on his hips.

"Pay...?" you tried to play the innocent card because you weren't expecting to get caught or yelled at. Since you were a girl, most of the shopkeepers took pity on you. But this shopkeeper didn't seem to have any pity for you. He grabbed your arm to prevent you from escaping.

"No one steals from my cart!" the shopkeeper bellowed.

"Oh, I'm sorry sir. I don't have any money." you apologized and tried to break free of the man's grip, but he only grabbed your arm tighter.

"Thief!" he accuses as he yanks to his other side.

"Wait, if you let me go to the palace I can get some from the Sultan!" you try to bargain but you can tell it's not working.

"Do you know what the penalty is for stealing?" The and presses your arm down onto his stand. He pulls his sword out from its holster and raises it above his head. Your eyes widen in fear when you realize what he's about to do.

"No! No, please!" you begged.

You wait for the sword to come down, but a hand shoots up and grabs the shopkeeper's hand mid-swing.

"Oh, thank you kind sir! I'm so glad you found her!" a mysterious boy says to the shopkeeper then looks at you.

"I've been looking all over for you!" the boy says to you and wags his finger in a scolding motion. You look at him, confused.

"What are you doing?" you whisper to him. His eyes get a mischievious glint in them.

"Just play along," the boy whispers back with a smirk.

"You, uh, know this girl?" the shopkeeper asks in disbelief. The boy puts an arm around the shopkeeper's shoulder and puts on a fake pout and a hand on his chest.

"Sadly, yes. She is my sister. She's a little crazy." The boy does the 'crazy' motion with his finger by his head. You scoff when he accuses you of being crazy. How dare he! You just met, and you were not crazy.

The shopkeeper angrily grabs the boy's shirt and swings him around, bringing the boy right up in his face.

"She said she knew the Sultan." the shopkeeper says.

"Heh...she thinks the monkey is the Sultan." The boy motions to a monkey wearing a vest and a fez, who was trying to steal something out of a townsperson's bag. The monkey squeaked in surprise and grabbed it's tail, feigning innocence. You looked down at the monkey, getting the hint.

You fell down on your knees in front of the monkey, raising your arms and lowering them to the ground, as if the monkey was really the Sultan.

"Oh, wise Sultan! How may I serve you?" you went along with the boy's act and the monkey stood tall and put it's hand on it's chest. He began "talking" and patted you on the head. The boy put on his fake pout again.

"Tragic, isn't it?" the boy said in a sympathetic voice and, unseen by you, snuck a apple into his hand with his foot, which also was luckily unseen by the shopkeeper, who was too distracted by the act you were putting on.

"But," the boy then threw the apple to the shopkeeper, "no harm done."

He walked over to you and wrapped an arm around your shoulders. You put on a dumb face as he led you away.

"Now come along, sis, time to go see the doctor." he said. You walked up to a camel, the dumb look still on your face.

"Well hello, doctor, how are you?" you asked the camel. The boy leaned in with an amused smile on his face.

"No, no, no, not that one." he said to you. He turned to look at his monkey. "C'mon, Sultan." The monkey did a dramatic bow, but everything he had smuggled into his vest fell out in front of him: jewels and jewelry, apples, and coins. He squeaked in fear when he saw what he did, and you and the boy looked back in surprise, gasping.

Unfortunately, the shopkeeper also noticed.

"Wait, wait! Come back here, you little thieves!" he yelled as he shook his fist angrily at you. The boy grabbed your hand and you ran, the monkey following you.

Where you were going, you had no idea.

A/N sorry this took so long! I've been really busy and dealing with a bunch of stuff, but now that it's summer, I'm getting back into writing! I'm splitting this up into two parts because if I keep going, it would be a whole story!

And yes, I know you're basically Jasmine in this, but in the next part, it's going to be different. And Jasmine probably won't be in this, even though she's your cousin.
