Just wanted to note that this is an experimental short one-shot. Basically everything I write is experimental and practice for future scenarios; wanted to take a shot at GL/GxG and I absolutely adore these two :]

This is written entirely in Luz's POV; and it's more focused on the relationship building between the two.

My phone quietly went off, signaling yet another semi-peaceful morning in Bonesburough. I stretched my arms high towards the ceiling and let out a loud yawn. I shut off the alarm, carefully swiping my phone. Another wonderful day at Hexside awaited me, and I stood up and stretched out, careful to not trip and fall on anything.

I stalked down the stairs, only to be greeted by my mentor and caretaker, Eda, and companion King. Eda sat at the table, quietly sipping her Apple Blood beverage, and gestured with her chin to take a seat.

"Morning sport." She greeted me in a semi-energetic voice. King still seemed to be in some sort of morning funk as he continued to yawn and dodged in and out of sleep on the table. Eda poked him and King let out a chirp, causing Eda to giggle in response. As the sun continued to poke through the windows of the Owl House, I waved to Eda, notifying her of my exit.

"I ought to get ready for school!" I assured her as I ran back upstairs to slide on my multi-colored uniform. I admired the colorful leggings and sleeves and messed around posing in front of the mirror with and without the hood on, and finally went to tend to my belongings, checking off different items and gizmos that I knew I needed for the daily shenanigans at Hexside.

I ran back downstairs and waved to Eda and King. "See ya after school!" I exclaimed and bolted out the door. I wasn't necessarily in a rush, I just wanted to explore town and meet Gus and Willow early. Running past the storefronts, I stopped at a sudden flash of ruby red. A single apple stood in the shop window, and I had just what one might want in exchange for it. I quickly walked inside and picked up the apple. A rare find! I thought to myself as I pulled a few odd stones and an uncommon herb from my pocket and handed them to the shop keeper. They nodded in agreement and gestured a wave in parting. I smiled as I exited the shop and bagged the apple for later, pacing to Hexside

"Hey Luz!" Gus yelled out, both him and Willow waving their hands to catch my attention. I quickly ran towards them and forced them into a hug. "It's great to see you guys again." I told them, as we disbanded. Willow sat at the base of the staircase, one of her notebooks next to her. "You came at the right time, Luz. Me and Gus were debating which demon would win in a fight to the death!" Willow said semi-aggressively while holding up a photograph, featuring what looked like an orc with a battle-axe and a watered-down Cthulhu-moth creature, which had an obviously drawn in sword in crayon. "Cool additions by me." Gus added smugly. The bell rang, and Willow huffed, "We'll settle this... later"

As students rushed into the school and to their next classes, Luz noticed Amity gracefully strutting with a book in hand. The title was covered by her hands, but I recognized the book from somewhere... it was on the tip of my tongue. Hopefully it'll come to me at some point. I dashed off to my first class of the day, and sat down in one of the front seats in hope of getting the best notes. I eagerly awaited for the teacher to begin class, moving up and down in my seat in anticipation.

Lunch came as quickly as usual, it was like the time just flew by! I pulled my lunch from my bag, consisting of daily items like a box of apple blood and a hard-boiled griffin egg. Then I pulled out the prized ruby red apple. I had saved the best for last. Willow and Gus took their seats next to me with their school supplied meals. I couldn't help but look at Amity, who sat alone and looked overall bothered by something. She kept looking in my direction and then darting her eyes away whenever I would return her stares. I dismissed myself from our lunch table and strolled over to Amity, who sat in the corner of a table isolated. As a walked up to her, her face turned red and she quickly turned away. "Hey Amity!" I greeted her. "What do you want?" She growled back, hiding her face in her shawl. "Is everything okay? You look upset." I responded, ignoring the dismissive tone in her voice. She hadn't touched her lunch yet, and I took a seat behind her. She moved slightly and turned her hidden face. "Sometimes I get a bit grouchy when I'm hungry, too." I said as I rolled my apple towards her. Hearing it thud against her arm, she glanced up, even redder than before. She quickly snatched up the fruit, and I smiled. "Thank you I guess." She said as she reluctantly took a bite of the apple. Her eyes widened slightly as she continued to consume the fruit, and I couldn't help but grin and laugh. We sat in silence for awhile until I got a peak at the book inside her bag. It was a novel with a beige and sage-green cover, but the title was hidden by other miscellaneous notes and papers.

"So you enjoy reading?"

Her eyes drifted towards her semi-open bag and then they darted away, "On the occasion."

"So what genre's do you like?"

She glances back towards her bag one more, and pauses for a moment, as if she's contemplating her response. "I don't really have a select genre."

"Oh". We sit in awkward silence.

"Well if you want we ca-" I was cut off by her sudden exit. I stood there in confusion. Me and Amity just had a conversation? A short one nonetheless, but a conversation? It's as you tell yourself, everyone comes around to Luz in the end.

The final bell rings as quickly as the first one rang. Willow seems to have afterschool activities so I decided to stay afterschool to walk home with my friend. I perch under a tree and open up my novel. The Good Witch Azura. I finally get to finish this! I had fallen asleep the previous night while reading it at the point of a filler. I finally had the moment to silently read one of my favorite books, oh how I could savor this moment! As I open to where my bookmark was located, a quiet thud falls next to me. Amity slowly sets down her bag, eyes failing to meet mine. She blushes slightly as she rests her body under the same tree as me.

"Luz..." Amity began, "I just wanted to- thank you."

"No problem Amity!"

I pondered for a second. "How come you ran off so suddenly earlier? I tried to talk to you about it but you seemed busy."

"I- uh-" Her face begins to turn red. She quickly changes the subject, "So, what are you reading?"

My goodness, I have been waiting for this moment for so long! Where do I even start? The origin story? The beginning of the series? The Ages of filler chapters in between the epic battles between good and evil?

"It's only like- the best books ever!" I exclaim, standing up and holding the book skyward. "Behold! From fantastical lands riddled with evil and strife, awakes a pure source of good to ravage the face of darkness!" I begin to make sword and laser sounds with my mouth as I dramatically move the novel from side to side with my arms. "This is like- the second installment though, I've read it a solid 600 times." I joke, and she snickers in response. "Oh really?" Amity questions in a suspicious tone, "600 Times? Quite impressive, for a human." I smile and laugh. You know as they say, laughter is contagious, and before you know it, we're both laughing under this single tree in the school yard.

Amity puts on a smug and noble expression. "You're pretty interesting Luz, for a human." She specifies, holding that expression perfectly throughout her remark.

"Is that so?" I respond back in a similar tone. We both laugh slightly at the comment, our hands accidently intertwining as the final bell signaling the end of most extracurriculars rings.

Today was a good day.
