Chapter 3 - The Past

It was a little before midnight, Talia was resting in a tree right outside the gate. She heard someone approaching. In one swift movement she pulled out a arrow and drew back her bow. Just before she let it fly she saw that it was,Killi. She relaxed knowing that he was probably looking for her.

"Talia? Talia? Are you out here?" He asked quietly to that dark of the night.

She didn't really want to talk to anyone. Especially the person that she was link to for life. She had never healed anyone before him. She looked down at him. It didn't look like he was going to give up. She jumped down out of the tree, in front of him.

"What do you want?" She asked sharply.

"I want to know about what happened." He says.

"I already told you what happened. There is no more that you need to know." She says.

"I want to know about the Rougaroe's. Where did the come from?" He says.

"That is not my favorite topic to talk about. You know what they did to me." She says.

"Please just tell me about them. I know that they wasn't always here." He says.

"Alright, but just to let you know it's not a happy story. It's up to you whether you wanted to tell you." She says.

"Please. I have to know." He says.

"It started about 500 years ago, when there was still humans in our lands. They had thought that the elves had to much power. It started a war, I lead the battle. We won, we was much more stronger than them. They was furious. I had been a spy for my father at that time. I had found out that they was planning something. I couldn't leave to tell my father because he said not to come back until I knew what they was planning. So I stayed another three week. Then I found out what they was planning, but I was already to late to do anything about it. They had started to turn into some monster. They noticed that I w as s not changing into one of them. They came after me. I had barely escaped with my life. I went back to my father to tell him what happened. He wanted me to find out how it happened in the first place. You see the only way that something like that could happen was dark magic." She says.

"So the humans started to mess with,dark magic. I thought that there was still some humans in our lands, but they don't sound like any thing that your talking about." Killi says.

"Your right there are some still in our lands, but they fear stepping past their castles and walls that they have put up. Let me finish. I had traced down all the creatures that was known to do black magic, but they all said that they would never go against us. So that left me at square one. Until someone came to me. It was a human. They said that they knew where I could find the person that unleashed the monsters. They said that I would have to travel to the dark side of our lands. To a cave called The Echo. It was the one place that none of us went, because the way there was sure to bring death. I went anyway. When I reached the cave I found who I was looking for. The one who had went against us." Talia says.

"So you ended up find the person." Killi says.

"Let me finish please. So when I went in I found him. I brought him back to my father. He had said that there was no way to undo the magic that he had done. So we was stuck with a problem. That is all and that is how they came to be." Talia says.

"I can't believe that they was once human. They seem so vicious. So it can never be undone?" He asks.

"I'm done talking about this. Please go before your father finds out where you are." She says.

Killi turned around and started to walk away. He turned back and looked at her.

"I'm really glad you didn't die in the war, because I love you." He says right before he disappeared into the gate.

Talia couldn't believe what she had just heard. Did he really care about her in that way. There was no way someone could love her. No one would, not after everything that has happened to her. She jumped back up in the tree. There had to be a reason why he had said that, there must be something he wanted. It was so strange, no one had said that to her since he died.

Talia sat back down. She thought back to the last time she laughed and smiled. It was before the war. When she had fallen in love with him. What was supposed to be her husband but that never came true. The war had come between them. They had went into the battle side by side, making sure that each other was safe. The perfect couple, the only problem was that one of them didn't come back. Talia had, had her back turned. Her true lover had just killed one right behind her. He turned around and a blade went right through his heart. She had turned and just fell to her knees, she was devastated. She couldn't think, move or find any reasoning. She had moved or to him searching for any sign of life, but found non.

A twig snapped in the distance bringing her back to the present. Someone was walking below her. She saw that it was the king, he was talking to some one.

"I know your out there. We was supposed to meet." He says.

Out of the corner of Talia's eye someone came into view. She say that it was the leader of the Rougaroe's. What would the king be doing with him.

"I came because you wanted to make a deal. So lay out your terms." The leader said.

"You leave our people alone and I'll give you something you've been wanting." The king says.

"What could you possibly have that would be worth that much to us?" The leader asks.

"The daughter of Ramando. Talia the warrior." The king says.

"Talia is dead. There is. No possible way for her to be alive, all the poison that was in her, killed her." The leader says.

"Oh no. She is very much alive and she is even here in my kingdom. I will give her to you for the safety of my kingdom." The king says.

"I will accept you offer. We will have another meeting in three weeks time. You will hand her over then." The leader says.

With that he leaves. Now Talia knows why she was asked to come back. Killi had lied to her. He made it seem that she was welcomed once more just to get close to her. She couldn't believe that someone would do something like that to her once again
