2 years later:"Here we are." Alana revealed an enormous mountain range in front of us. I could feel Bolt squeeze my hand as we landed on the mountain peak. It had been 2 years and we had been planning on how to capture Nivara and get my voice back. Since then, I had learned heaps of signs that I could use to communicate with Bolt. It was still hard though, I feel like a different person.
Not in a good way though.
After I discovered the truth about my past, I had 3 friends come and visit me regularly. Well, I say friends. They're more like nagging little kids who just don't listen to me. They are Doubt, Anxiety, and Fear. Anxiety visits the most. Mainly to nag and annoy me with endless thoughts of Nivara, my sister. Doubt is rarer than Anxiety but much worse. All these thoughts swirl in my mind as I start to doubt Bolt's love for me, Alana's truth, and myself.
And as for Fear?
Don't even get me started.
"Are you excited?" Bolt's calm words released me from my doubt. What was I talking bout? He would always love me.
I nodded and he tightened his grip around my hand as Alana lead us to an underground cave. She turned to us before dimming her light.
"This is serious," she began. "If we don't follow the plan, anything could go wrong. I mean anything. Do you understand?" Both me and Bolt nodded as she put a finger to her lips. We silently crept through the dark, cold cave. The only noise to be heard was a constant drip, drip, drip. Most likely water dripped from the damp walls of the small cave.We walked and walked for what seemed like hours, before Alana stopped walking, causing Bolt to stumble into me. She felt around a blank wall. Then, she found what she was looking for. She pushed a rock into the wall and a slight opening appeared. She turned around to us.
"Nivara is just past this hallway. I will meet you both at this spot. If anything goes wrong, I will let you know." We both nodded as she slipped into the darkness. Drip, drip, drip. It was all that Bolt and I could hear as we sat down next to each other. It was cold and wet on our backs, but Bolt rested his head on my lap and I stroked his damp hair. Drip, drip, drip.'Ok. It definitely wasn't just me.'
The dripping was definitely getting louder. And it was dripping on my head. I looked up to see what it was, and a horrid grin was there, blood dripping from her pointed teeth. I tensed and I guess Bolt sensed my sudden jerk because he too looked up. But Nivara wasn't moving. She was still.
Surely, we weren't that lucky. But, she was in fact asleep.
I signalled for Alana in my mind, and she must have heard me because she was there in a flash. She saw what we saw, and she knew that this was her opportunity. She motioned for us to exit the cave, and as we did, she pulled a knife from her skirt. Bolt and I ran as fast as we could, and just as we were out of the cave, we heard an ear-piercing scream and Alana came running out of the cave.
"RUN!" She yelled.
And so we did.
