I ran out of the car as fast as I could. My dad had decided to sing "Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus all the way home. He'd even sang it in a high-pitched screechy noise damaging my eardrums badly. Lets just say that my dad isn't a girl...
I skipped the steps two at a time to get to the door as fast as possible only to realize that my dad had the keys.
"Shoot!" I pounded my hand on the door as I heard my dad climbing the steps.
He was now at the end:
"I came in like a wrecking ball! Yeah, I just closed my eyes and swung. Left me crashing in a blazing fall. All you ever did was wreck me! Yeah, you, you wreck me! Yeah, you, you wreck me......" He was bowing by now.
He finally pulled out his keys and twisted them inside the lock, gesturing for me to go first. I stepped inside and looked wide eyed at the sight before me.
"Surprise!!!!" my cousin Kelsey screamed. I looked around and saw her mom, dad, and brother named Max. Jake and Chris were here to and Chris (as always) was very close to Kelsey.
"Oh my God! You scared me!" I nearly screamed. They were all laughing and the three boys were all giving high fives and slapping each other on the back. "I nearly had a heart attack!" I said as I ran over and clobbered Kelsey with a hug. We both fell with me on top of her and everyone laughed harder.
We sat up and climbed to the couch while her family sat in the recliners across the room. "We thought we'd surprise you and Chris here," She smiled warmly at Chris who blushed slightly, "told me a great plan."
"AWWW.... Thank you Chris!" I said smiling hugely at him. "How long are you up?"
"'Til Sunday morning." she said.
"So you'll see our race?" I asked excitedly.
"Actually, the boys agreed to let me have you to myself so we can hang out all day! They agreed to move the race to next Saturday... Is that okay with you?" Kelsey asked looking genuinely concerned.
"That's perfect! Come up to my room so I can show you my room's changes," I said directed to Kelsey. She nodded and ran up the stairs with the boys scampering up behind her.

The boys left shortly after I showed Kelsey around my room. It was very messy.
I blame her. I didn't even know she was coming so how was I supposed to know to clean my room?!? Normally I would have been prepared for this kind of show down but today was not a normal day....

Kelsey and I have been cousins forever. Duh, that's kind of a given...
She's 17, the same the same age as me. Her birthday is exactly 1 month before mine, May 26. We have always celebrated our birthdays together, meeting roughly halfway between our birthdays. Its always on June 10th.
We've been planning non-stop for our eighteenth birthdays and it's gonna be a huge party. We're both very excited. were going to a water park and hotel in Wisconsin called 'Kalahari'. It's halfway between our houses. She lives in Canton, Michigan, which is sadly a days drive from our house in Blaine, Minnesota.
We're both inviting all our close friends and Kelsey's very excited that Chris is coming...
We've always been really close, but this party will bring us closer, because it's our last one as kids.
