It wasn't long until the group reached Valencia Island. The ferry started from Pummelo Island at 9, and it only took an hour to reach its destination. The group looked around the place and found it very similar to Cinnabar Island. The natural vegetation, the pokemon, the smell of air... There was just one tiny difference, the crowd. Being the go to tourist destination of Kanto, Cinnabar Island was much more crowded, Valencia Island on the other hand gave a sense of peace.
"So Brock, which way to the lab?" Ash asked the pokemon breeder, who was immersed in his guide book.
"We just have to take the road along the shore Ash." Drake answered, without giving Brock a chance.
"Whoa, how did you know that?" Ash asked him in surprise.
Drake simply pointed his pokegear to Ash. He could see that there was a map of the island, with one pointing towards Professor Ivy's research lab. "Whoa, we have maps in the pokegear?" Ash asked in surprise. "Science is so amazing!!"
"Of course you wouldn't know that." Drake muttered to himself. "You should use that pokegear sometimes you know."
Following the instructions, Drake once again took the backseat. He was walking by Diantha's side, but chatting with Cubone. Following Red's advice he kept trying to bond with his pokemon. Of course Ash would give him pointers here and there, but even in his twin's own words, one can't exactly calculate how to bond, it just... happens.
Diantha continued to walk by his side without any thoughts. She was simply admiring Drake trying to strike up conversations with his Cubone. Their interactions were definitely amusing, as she watched Drake blush when Cubone said something pointing towards her. Well, she was definitely going to get through to him.
Misty was still imagining all the wonderful adventures she might have, given the vastness of the ocean. And of course she had to work on her tan too. Maybe she could catch another pokemon or two, and it would be perfect to have these on Trovita Island, as she might impress a certain someone.
Brock was still engrossed in his books, but this wasn't the guide book. Rather it was one that professors Oak and Ivy had collaborated on. He found the ideas presented in the book rather intriguing. The fact that Professor Ivy worked tirelessly to breed the various pokemon on the island by itself spoke volumes about her skills as a pokemon breeder.
Ash and Serena of course were in their own worlds. happily holding hands, and enjoying the scenery. They never had the time to do this in Cinnabar Islands, considering all the stuff with Team Rocket that kept happening around that time. But they didn't have to worry about all that now. Of course Ash was trying to get Togepi to start training.
"Come on Togepi. Use... Metronome!" He exclaimed.
"Dada?" The spikeball pokemon gave him a confused glance.
"What are you trying Ash?" Drake asked, slightly irritated about his brother's persistent behavior.
"You remember that rain cloud on us right?" Ash asked. And when Drake nodded his head he continued. "Well, there wasn't any pokemon in our group who could use Rain Dance, which means it was Metronome. And you said the pokemon who used it was very young, which means it had to be Togepi."
"It's not really a good idea to have Togepi use Metronome right now Ash. You know it could summon random moves right?" Drake rebuked him slightly.
"So what?" Ash answered without any thoughts.
"Maybe he should use teleport and you land inside Kyogre's mouth." Drake gave a ridiculous thought.
Ash imagined in his head, as a chibbi version of himself walking along the road, and suddenly he gets teleported into Kyogre's mouth, and the end. Shuddering from the idea, he spoke up again. "On second thought... let's not think about it now."
