Chapter 1: Work

Once upon a time, there was a girl named y/n. She was the most beautiful person to see by the human eye. It's almost as if she was a gift of heaven sent down by angels to bless this world, or was she? In reality, y/n was just your average woman who works in an office and never gets any sleep. Just your basic everyday girl.

DING DING, DING DING! It was 6 in the morning and time for work but y/n won't get up even though her alarm clock is loud. She had been up all night working on a document to turn in to the boss proving that she can keep her supervisor role because, to him, she was slacking off and or getting lazy. As y/n finally woke up she realized she was late. By the way, she was in such a rush that she didn't shower, put on poor-looking makeup, had no breakfast, and had a bad bedhead.

Running out of the door, y/n got in her car and drove to work. When she got there, she ran to the bathroom to fix herself up or make herself look presentable. As y/n let out a sigh staring at herself in the mirror, someone walked in, it was Maddie. She is almost like a class pet usually favored by the teacher but in this case, it was the boss. Since y/n has been working at the office for a while now, she can tell how he's feeling just by one look. Almost as if he is easy to read like a kids' book, but very few could understand how the boss was feeling because he is a mysterious man to many. Little did Maddie know that the boss disliked her very much. She was always so clingy begging for attention from him, specifically trying to sweet talk him thinking she was on his good side. The boss tries not to push her away so often because knowing his surroundings and himself, his reputation would drop. Maddie gets out of the stall and washes her hands, she rests her arm around y/n. "Why are you even trying to look good? It's not like the boss is looking at you. You know, he'd rather keep his eyes all over me rather than an absolute mess like you." Maddie says while looking up and down at y/n in the mirror. Y/n has had enough so she pushes Maddie's arm off and walks out.

Y/n walks to the elevator and waits patiently for the lift to rise to her floor. As the door was about to close, someone quickly stuck their foot in between the door causing it to open again. Y/n quickly looks up and sees her boss, Jake. "I was telling you to keep the door open but instead you ignored me." Feeling guilty y/n looks up and apologizes. "I'm very sorry Mr. Jake it's just that I haven't been getting much sleep and last night I was working on, "the document."

Y/n's eyes lock with Jake's as they speak at the same time. "Sigh, I've always known you were such a forgetful person y/n. We need to have a talk in my office about current situations and your future. Alright? " The now-called forgetful girl nods her head and goes on with her day.

The elevator door opens and it is time to get to work. Y/n lets out a long sigh and walks to her desk. When she gets there, she notices a hot and fresh coffee with a note saying 'Good luck with the boss!' Y/n had no words yet, she knew who this was from. Her best friend Hannah. Hannah was always by y/n's side anytime she needed her for anything. The two have known each other for as long as they can remember and she knew y/n's deepest secret. Y/n has a huge crush on their boss, Jake. This girl was head over heels for him. Y/n writes a thank you note on a post-it note, and peaks over her station to see Hannah playing on her phone. Y/n smiles slightly and places the note on the friend's computer. Hannah looks up and removes the note from her computer and shows a small smirk in return. Suddenly, y/n remembers the meeting with the boss. As y/n is headed to the boss's office Hannah grabs her hand. "Be careful in there, you know he is a scary guy. Oh and by the way tell me how it goes!" Y/n winks. "You know I will." Then, y/n walks to the boss's office.

Y/n knocks on the door and waits patiently. "Mr. Jake, I'm here for our meeting." Y/n waits patiently for someone to answer the door. Suddenly, there was a voice on the other side of the door. "Please y/n, come in." The scared secretary opens the door and shuts it behind her. Y/n sits in the chair in front of Jake's desk. His face was stern as ever staring at y/n. He leans forward slightly and begins talking. "You know, I'm gonna get straight to the point. Is that alright?" Y/n nods her head and the meeting begins.

Jake lets out a deep long sigh. As he was about to talk, y/n interrupted. "I'm sorry." Jake had a confused look on his face. "I'm sorry that I have been slacking off. I'm sorry that I can't keep up with the other employees." Y/n continues her rant as she slowly starts to stand up and put her hands on the desk. "I'm sorry that-" Suddenly, she stops. Y/n looks down to see her boss, the one that has been her work crush ever since she started, holding onto her hands so she could calm down. Jake looks at the teary-eyed girl and calmly talks to her. "Y/n, you've done nothing wrong. Please sit down and stop crying." Jake gets up and walks to the other side of the desk and crouches beside the chair y/n was sitting in. As both make eye contact, Jake raises his arm, cups Y/n's cheek in his hand, and wipes her tears. "Don't worry y/n, I didn't call you in here to scold you. I called you in here to see how I can make your position easier for you. That is why I made you write that document to see how desperate you are and how badly you want to keep your place. To sum it up, I did all of this because I know you're such a hard worker." The secretly caring boss looks away. Y/n continues to look at him, noticing his face is as red as the pen on his desk. Y/n starts to blush slightly as well. Jake looks back up at y/n and says, "I love you y/n."

Jake pauses for a second. "I love you so much. Ever since you started working here, I felt a spark. When we first made eye contact I felt like you could read me like a book. I'm not completely sure how you feel but please, take your time to respond." Y/n's face was now equally red to Jake's. "I have felt the same way ever since day one." Says y/n as she smiles with a big grin on her face. Jake smiles back. "Well then, if you excuse me." Jake moves his hand to the back of Y/n's neck and slowly but gently pulls her in. Both close their eyes and kiss. Their lips touch oh so gently sending a tingle down both of their bodies. Y/n puts her hands on Jake's chest and slightly pushes him off. "Mr, I mean Jake, we should stop this. A public work office is not the place to be doing such lustful things, don't you think?" He removes his hands from y/n, covering his mouth realizing what he had just done. He was about to talk but clears his throat. "You're right, I um sorry. Honestly, I'm glad you stopped me 'cause I mean like erm, let's just say I would've taken it a step further you know?" Jake lets out a small laugh then y/n does as well. Both let out a deep breath and fix themselves. Y/n gets up and walks to the door and winks at her boss. Suddenly, he calls out to her. "Hey y/n, how about dinner after work today?" Y/n smiles back at him. "I'd like that very much." Then, she walks out and closes the door. That is when y/n realized, she is dating her boss.
