Prologue Part 1: An Uncle's War

Huff...Huff...Huff

A man with pasty pale skin is seen slowly walking through the Matou Manor. He finds a purple haired girl with dull eyes, slowly walking to her.

"Hey, Sakura-chan. Did I suprise you?" he smiled with the left part of his face bulging with veins.

"No, but your face..." Sakura said.

"Well, you know... I kinda lost to the worms inside me a little. I guess I'm not as tough as you are." he continued.

"You're turning into a different person, aren't you Kariya-ojisan?"

Kariya gulped "Maybe."

"I don't have to go to the bug room tonight. Ojii-san said there's going to be a more important ceremony." As Sakura said that Kariya winced.

"Yeah, I know, that's why I'm going to the basement tonight instead." He replied.

"Kariya-ojisan, are you going away?"

"I'll be busy with an important job for a while. I probably won't have much time to talk to you, Sakura-chan."

"I see..."

"Hey Sakura-chan. Once I'm done with my job, why don't we go somewhere and have some fun? With your okaa-san and nee-chan?"

"I don't have anyone to call okaa-san or nee-chan... Ojii-san said I should think that they never even existed"

"...I see."

Kariya slowly walked to the girl. With his only functioning arm he slowly wrapped it around Sakura and hugged her.

"Oji-san?" Said Sakura with a surprised tone.

"Let's take Aoi-san and Rin-chan from the Tohsakas, and go somewhere faraway." Kariya said with hope in his voice. We can play together again, like we used to."

"C-can I really see them again?" Her voice breaking.

"Yeah, you will. I promise you that." Kariya said while tearing up.

As they hugged one last time Kariya released the hug.

"Well, I have to get going."

"Okay." Sakura nodded

"Bye-Bye, Kariya Oji-san."

Kariya slowly walked away from her.

"Bye-bye..." She mumbled.

...

"Oji-san" a new voice said, more masculine than Sakura's but higher pitched than Kariya.

Kariya looked behind him. He saw a purple seaweed haired boy, dressed in white shorts and a dark blue polo shirt.

"Shin-kun."

"You look like you're sick, Kariya-Oji-san... Did you use Ojii-san's crest worms?" Shin asked.

Kariya knew that Shin was more mature for a kid his age, so he was more perceptive.

"Yeah, but don't worry Shin-kun I'm more tough than you think." He smiled.

"How can you say that when you have less than a year to live? You're just giving Sakura false hope..." He replied to his uncle.

"...I'm not giving her false hope, because if I die in this job of mine I know you have what it takes to take care of Sakura." He continued to smile.

The young Matou looked to the side with a sad look on his face.

"Oji-san, I'm not strong enough to protect Sakura... From Zouken-Ojii-san."

Kariya slowly looked at Shin. He kneeled right in front of him and opened his hand.

"Shin, this will be my last gift for you." he said as the veins in his left side of his face bulged.erratically.

A chirp could be heard from Kariya's sleeve. Before Shin could even react to it a small pale blue crest worm wriggled out of it and landed on the palm of Kariya.

"Kariya-ojisan... is that a-"

"Yes, it is. This Crest Worm is not Zouken's. This is the product of my fleeting life made from my working magic circuits. Even If I didn't do this I would die.

The Crest Worm continued to chirp happily, it hopped away from Kariya's palm to Shin's shoulder.

"Thank you... Kariya-ojisan, good luck."

Kariya nodded as he shifted his legs to the basement to summon his servant.

"Good luck, Shin-kun..." Kariya whispered.
