Chapter 3: A Distant Somnium

Dream Sequence

"What?" The man looked at the laying body of Tokiomi in surprise.

The church's doors suddenly opened,

"Kariya?" Aoi said, her eyes staring at him with disbelief.

"Aoi?" Kariya asked with veins bulging on his face.

She stared at him with disgust much to his dismay.

"No! It wasn't me!" He tried to explain.

Tokiomi's corpse fell down the steps of the church, his lifeless eyes staring at Aoi's. She slowly walked to Kariya, his face shifting trying to speak. She slowly kneeled down to touch Tokiomi's face.

"This was...Are you satisfied, Kariya? Now the Matou are sure to win the Holy Grail." Aoi said refusing to believe him

"I... I..." He stuttered

"Why? Taking Sakura from me wasn't enough? Of all the things you could have done,...you killed him in front of me?"

"Why?" She asked once again.

"He...It's because of him!
If it weren't for him, no one would have had to suffer! You... Sakura...You could have been happy!" He bursts out.

"Shut up!" Aoi cried out.

"What could you possibly know of it?" Asked with anger in her voice.

"You've never even..."

Kariya shook his head slowly his face filled with fear.

"You've never loved anyone in your entire life!" She shouted at him

Crack!

Something cracked within Kariya's mind.

'I had someone I loved. Warm and kind...I wanted her to be happier than anyone else.' He charged at Aoi.

'For you, I would throw away my life.'

'That's why I've endured this pain until now.'

'Endured...Endured, endured, endured, endured, endured, endured, endured...Endured it all!'

'You can't deny all that. If you do, I'll never forgive you!' Kariya clasped his good arm on Aoi's neck clenching it tightly.

'A lie, a lie, a lie! I do have someone...There is someone I love!'

'Who did I do this for?'

'Whose fault is it?!'

'If I'm going to die, I may as well...'

Crack!

The scene switches to Aoi sitting on a bench in the park that they always used to go to with Sakura and Rin. She smiled at Kariya, and Kariya smiled at her.

Shatter!

The scene pans to Kariya choking Aoi. Her eyes filled with hate, and she scratched his arm all but for naught. Kariya had tears flowing out of his eyes. After a few moments, he let go of Aoi's unmoving body.

He looked at Shin's incorporeal form, with anguish in his eyes.

'I loved her.' He mouthed.

3rd POV

"Aughh!!" Shin suddenly woke up with a cold sweat, his heart beating. He clenched his  bedsheets turning his knuckles white.

"Shin, what's wrong?" Sakura asked him while rubbing her eye.

"...It's nothing, just a nightmare." Shin looked at Sakura, he saw her creamy white skin and E-cup breasts. He

"

Sakura looked at him, then looked at her currently bare naked body. She quickly flushed red and accepted his offer, she quickly covered herself with a blanket.

Click!

Shin got off the bed as Sakura closed the bathroom door. He changed his attire to a casual outfit, after he finished changing he went to the living room where he could see Rin lying down on the couch.

"You look like shit. What happened?"

"Archer and I encountered a servant last night, Lancer to be exact." She said with a prideful tone.

"You know Archer has a disadvantage against Lancer." Shin crossed his arms

"But I handled it." She said smugly.

"Yeah, yeah." Shin waved her off.

"But you could have died," Shin replied to her previous statement.

"Keyword could have." Rin continued her smug attitude.

Shin with a twitching eyebrow, proceeded to pinch the ever-living shit out of her cheeks.

"For a girl who almost died, you sure are cheeky."

"Ow! Ow!" Rin pushed his hands away, revealing her red and sore cheeks.

"Serves you right," Shin smirked.

"Mouuuu!!!! Get out!"

"Heh, I was planning to anyway. See you later." He pocketed his hands and walked outside the estate.

Shin entered a small flower shop, filled with various pots, vases, and plants.  The smell of flowers wafted through the air, causing a very pleasant scent.

"Ah, Shin-kun are you here for the usual?" Asked an old woman.

Exited the estate and walked to the Fuyuki Hospital. He went up to the nurse at the counter and asked.

"Hello? I'm here to visit Aoi Tohsaka."

"Welcome Shin, It's a good thing you visit Aoi-san frequently. Her health has been improving steadily, although it's quite a shame that her daughters refuse to visit her." The nurse said.

"It's not their fault... it gives them bad memories," Shin replied cooly.

"Oh, dear! I'm sorry for judging." The nurse apologized

"Well, if you sign here and here, you can go visit Aoi-san in a jiffy."

Shin nodded and signed the forms.

...

"Room 401, Aoi Tohsaka..." Shin read the plate.

He opened the door to see, a frail woman with dark green hair and eyes, Shin placed pure white daisies inside the vase. Shin sat down on a seat by the side of Aoi.

"Good Afternoon, Tohsaka-san. " He greeted her

The woman's head turned to the side to look at Shin, she smiled and nodded. Aoi patted down on a seat near her bed, so Shin sat down offered by her.
