Knock... Knock... Knock... THUD!
The noise instantly alerted the second owner. She hastily ran to the front door of the Tohasaka manor. She slammed the door open, finding Sakura covered in a dark blue blanket, a heavily wounded Shin, and a dead Kariya.
"B-By Akasha's Root, what happened?!" she wanted to puke but swallowed the bile instantly.
She instantly dragged her sister and Shin toward the living room. The young Tohsaka examined Sakura's condition first. Sakura's appearance changed after a year of no communication. The brown hair she inherited from their father turned purple due to the Matou's Magecraft, and her blue eyes changed to a dull purple. Rin's heart filled with guilt for allowing their father to give Sakura to Matou and regret that she didn't know what happened to her during Sakura's stay.
"n-niisan" Sakura muttered.
Rin's face became crestfallen at the realization that Sakura was not her sister anymore. She can only relish the memories of their past.
At the mention of the past, she remembered her uncle, Kariya...
'He looks dead, he feels dead... he's dead.' Rin thought.
Rin went outside, seeing a blue blur on the side of her vision but thought nothing of it. She grabbed a ruby with Od, enough to release flames that could burn a body. She threw it at Kariya's body and watched as embers flew.
"Sayonara, Kariya-ojisan..."
She gathered his ashes, placed them in an ornate urn, and put them on a table near Sakura and Shin. The young Tohsaka now focused on giving first aid to Shin.
She removed Shin's dress shirt to assess the wounds on his back. Shin's back is covered in glass and other types of shrapnel. It's a miracle how he walked all the way here while carrying Sakura.
She slowly pulled the shrapnel from his back using metal tweezers. Rin stopped for a while when she heard Shin grunt in pain but continued. When she was finished, Rin held clear quartz filled with a year's worth of Od. She crushed it in her hand, hoping Shin would have enough money to pay for this but remembered that he had saved Sakura. She placed the now prana-covered hand on Shin's back. Slowly but surely, his back began to heal.
"..uh," Shin groaned out.
"I don't like having debts to other people, so I'll help you to even the score." Rin crossed her arms.
"...thanks," Shin mumbled.
He moved to sit up but winced a little. Rin was about to scold him, but Shin sat up straight before she could.
"...So, I see what you did to Kariya-ojisan's body. I am grateful for that."
...
"If you don't mind me asking, what happened?" The noirette asked.
"Zouken happened."
"Could you explain it?" Rin said with an annoyed face.
"...He put Crest Worms inside Sakura, Kariya-ojisan tried to save her, but he died and left her in my care. I helped her escape. Zouken almost got us, but Tou-san saved us... I don't even know if Zouken is dead." The realization that the events of that single night changed their fates forever made him furl his eyebrows.
Rin clasped her hand over her mouth and gasped. Her father told her that Sakura would be taught Magecraft, n-not torturing her.
"It's my fault. I became the Tohsaka heiress. Otou-san didn't want to have two heiresses. That's why he gave Sakura awa-" Rin babbled on.
"It's not." Shin interrupted her.
Rin looked at him like he had a second head.
"If your Tou-san gave Sakura away instead of training her, then it's his fault, not yours." He continued.
"Sakura may have been the victim, but you are not the one who harmed her." He fondly patted Sakura's head.
"Do you want to stay in the past, or do you want to walk to the future?" Shin looked at her with a barely noticeable grin on his face.
Rin looked at Sakura, then looked back at Shin. The young Tohsaka instantly made up her mind.
"I want to move on. I want to experience the future with Sakura." She said with a determined face.
"Good answer."
Shin proceeded to wake up the now-clothed Sakura from her deep slumber. After enough shaking, she slowly woke up. Sakura took in the sight of her old home's living room. Sakura's eyes widened and-
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
...screamed
Shin quickly held the shivering Sakura in his embrace
"It's alright, Sakura. You're safe here." Shin said while stroking the back of her head.
"N-niisan, why are we here..." She teared up.
"The second owner allowed us to stay here. Yes, I know you are biologically related to Rin-san because I overheard the talk between you and Kariya-ojisan."
"B-but, I'm stained." She muttered slowly.
"Sakura, I am your older sister. I failed you once; I won't fail you again." Both Shin and Rin hugged Sakura. Said girl cried within their welcoming arms.
...
The purple-haired girl slept on the couch while the two older kids chatted.
"So what will you do now?" Rin asked.
"...I'll continue the Matou Magecraft."
Rin instantly pointed a gandr shot at him, but his hand grabbed her arm and slammed it to the wall.
"I said I'll continue the Matou's, not Zouken's." Shin specified.
"I get it. Now release my hand!" Rin said with an annoyed tone.
After releasing her hand, the Matou scion gives her a card.
"What's this?" She said, still annoyed from her bruised hand.
"My debit card was given by my Otou-san. This is payment for our stay here." Shin said like it was second nature to him.
"M-money!?" Rin started to pant while shakily holding the holy card.
"Hehehe, that card can only withdraw 15,000¥ per month. That's not enough for your precious gems," Shin humorously said.
"Ngehh, fine, I'll accept this for now. But put your workshop away from here!"
The camera pans away from the scene to London, where a grey Crest Worm crawls in the canals.
