"Have you ever sat on an empty beach
With the sun and the starts
And the sea is so deep
And ask yourself again, is this for me?
-Alone--Thursday, September 22-
A soft chime of a bell spreads across the restaurant as the door opens. "Hyung? I'm here" Jisung calls as he enters the back room; breathing heavily because he almost forgot that he opens on Saturdays. It's currently five P.M. On the dot. Jisung was hanging out at the convenience store, chilling over a serving of shin ramyoen, but then Chan called him, asking where he was, reminding him of his shift, he immediately grabbed his bag and sprinted his way to the place, forgetting a pack of half-eaten noodles.
"Man you didn't have to sprint here, it's all good" Chan appears from the kitchen, petting Jisung's back to calm down his breath. "Shut up, you should thank me for coming on time!״ Jisung snaps, taking a sip of water from his bottle.
Chan scoffs, trying to switch the subject "OK listen, some new guy should come here later today to get to know the place and stuff cause he passed the interview-" he starts, putting on sanitary gloves "-I was hoping you could stick to him and show him around for the first couple of days, y'know... teach him the menu, teach him the recipes, how to use the cashier, the basic stuff. D'you think you can do it?"
Jisung slips on his god's menu shirt and stops to give Chan a piercing gaze "No way dude, I can barely talk to any of the staff, how the hell am I going to talk to some random guy I met for the first time? Let alone sticking to him for a few days?" he huffs.
"Well I was supposed to do it, but my dad needs my help in the shed, Keeho and Hongjoong will join us too, I didn't ask you because you're not specifically the strongest out there, no offense."
"None taken."
"So yeah Sung, you're the only one that is currently available stick to him." Chan tries to explain with his soft voice, not quite convincing Jisung.
"No, I'm not, what about Nayeon, or Beomgyu, or literally anyone else but me!" Jisung fists Chan's shirt and shakes him to try and prove his point.
Chan gets out of the younger's grip and grabs his shoulders. "Nayeon is off shift today, and you know how many customers love Beomgyu, unless you wanna replace him and start your career as a waiter," Chan smirks, he knows exactly how to press on Jisung's weak points.
Chills go through every part of Jisung's body just at the thought of being a waiter. He could never, being a barista is the most he can offer, beyond that is completely off-limits.
"Just as I thought" Chan pats Jisung's shoulder "You should start preparing yourself because he'll be here at six."
Jisung is left alone in the spacious room, not able to say a word as Chan walks out. "You owe me!" he calls, frustrated.
Chan stuck him in this shitty situation, what the hell is he going to do? He doesn't even know the guy. What kind of a first impression is he going to leave on him? He feels like he might start crying, already feeling a lump forming in his throat.
But no. He can't cry. He needs to keep his face presentable, so in the meantime, he heads to the kitchen and starts washing the dishes, making a list of everything that could go wrong today, just to be prepared:
