"Thanks guys, I'll see you later tonight," I said, walking into my small house.I shut the door behind me, locking it. Throwing my purse on the couch, I took my jacket off along with my work shirt. I sighed, taking my long black hair down from its clip and walked upstairs to change.
When I reached my bedroom, I entered, walking to my closet and grabbing a big tshirt and throwing it on. I walked to my bathroom, taking my ten hour old makeup off of my face, washing it after. As I dried my face, I saw the lighting in my room shift and light shuffling, making me look into the room.
I walked out of the bathroom, grabbing my pocket knife off of my nightstand and began walking around my house. My heart rate began rising as I left my bedroom. The house was silent, making me feel stupid and paranoid.
I checked each room, nothing. God, I'm so paranoid.
I don't know why I was freaking out now, it was an old house and it always made noises, maybe it was the shifting of the sunlight. I sighed, closing my pocket knife after I'd searched the whole house.
I walked to the living room, grabbing my phone from my purse. I checked it, seeing I had a little over an hour to be ready for my friends to pick me up to go to a club. I didn't necessarily want to go that badly, but I wasn't totally against the idea.
I turned on my speakers and connected my phone to them, deciding I needed some noise or I would go paranoid again. Standing, I walked back upstairs to my room, trying to find an outfit.
I looked in my closet seeing two options. A tight red dress or a tight black dress. I texted Caitlin asking if I should wear red or black, of course she said black because it's 'sexier'. She'd been trying to get me laid for months but I protested against every guy she hooked me up with.
I took off my shirt, pulling the dress over my head. I pulled it down, forgetting how short it was. It reached just below my ass, making me nervous. I groaned, grabbing my black heels from my closet and putting them on.
When I looked at myself in the mirror, I looked decent, but I hated the dress. It was too short and too low cut in the chest. I shrugged, sitting down at my desk and putting on my makeup. I kept it simple, already uncomfortable from the dress.
When I finished, I walked downstairs, checking my phone to see Caitlin would be here any second to pick me up. I went to the kitchen to grab a drink of water before she arrived and heard another shuffle, making me turn around. Nothing.
I heard a car horn, making me grab my purse and dart out of the house after locking it. She rolled down the window, screaming compliments at me. I laughed, "shut up oh my god!" I smiled, entering the car.
She laughed driving off. It wasn't a far drive, maybe ten minutes due to us living in Los Angeles and clubs being at every street corner. "Who's gonna be there?" I asked.
"Jason and Kyle and..." she trailed.
"Who, Caitlin?" I asked, my smile dropping.
"Danny," she looked guilty.
"Danny?!" I yelled. "You know how much that prick tries to come onto me!"
"Just avoid him," she said as we parked.
"Like I haven't been trying to do that for the past year now," I groaned.
"I'm sorry, Kelsey, I didn't know he was coming until I was on my way to pick you up," Caitlin said, getting out of the car.
I followed behind her, not saying anything. When we approached the door, I flashed my ID, both of us walking through the door.
When we got inside, music filled my ears along with the smell of cologne and fine perfumes. I looked over the rail, seeing people jumping and grinding on each other. I turned, walking to the bar. "What can I get for you!" The bartender yelled.
"You have midori sours?" I yelled.
"Comin up," he said, mixing my drink.
Caitlin was long gone, no where to be seen. I mentally groaned, this girl always ditches me.
I grabbed my drink, practically downing the whole thing. I gave the bartender the glass and began walking down the stairs. I looked over the rail as I walked down, spotting Caitlin with Jason and Kyle.
I walked to them, everyone smiling as I approached. "Kelsey, I got you your favorite," Kyle said, holding up a midori sour.
I chuckled to myself, taking it and downing yet another one. "Come on," I said to Kyle, grabbing his hand and pulling him onto the floor with me. We walked to the floor, one of my favorite party songs playing. I put my hands on Kyle's neck, dancing with him. "Stay with me so Danny doesn't bother me," I whispered in his ear.
He laughed, "I got you."
We danced for a while, myself a bit tipsy, midori sours not being too strong. Caitlin and Jason joined in, both of them having feelings for the other but neither telling the other due to pride. Caitlin, Jason and Kyle danced in front of me, myself on the other side of them by myself.
Suddenly, I felt hands on my waist. "Danny get the fuck off-"
I turned seeing no one there. Now feeling nervous, I moved to Caitlin and told her I wanted to leave. Of course, she didn't want to and offered to give me money for an Uber. I declined, not feeling like going through the hassle and just decided to order my own.
I walked out of the building and got in my Uber and left.
When I got home, I unlocked the door, stepping inside. I locked the door and threw my purse on the couch, walking upstairs.
When I entered my room, it was oddly cold. I checked the thermostat, 72, my normal temperature. I shrugged, beginning to pull my dress over my head.
"Hello, Kelsey," a deep voice said.
