The rain still hasn't ceased for the past hour. And the rain commenced becoming heavier as there was a probability a storm was going to hit soon. I chewed my thumb nervously as I drove on the dark road, as I didn't where it lead me.
I didn't want to keep driving to my destination since it was farther away than I knew. The rain gave a trouble visually perceiving where I was navigating.

All I thought was slumbering in the car or finding a place to stay. But stores and motels weren't close by at all.

A few cars past a couple of times, and I still had focused my eyes on the road for the past minutes. All I could see was the windshield pouring down with constant rain and no such buildings around.

But that wasn't until a sign that answered my problem. A sign that caught my attention revealed BATES MOTEL I signed with relief finding there were in fact vacancies.

I took the turn to the motel and optically discerned how the motel was. It was like any ordinary motel. But there was a house behind the motel...A haunted-looking dark house that looked old and cryptic to find.

I turn off the keys and hurried my way in front of the office. Trying not to make my hair wet.
I found that there wasn't anybody. Even though the lights of the office were on and the door was unlocked.

I knew in fact, that the owner must've lived inside the house. I took a second to view the eerie house. Seeing a slow figure walk past a window up in a lightened room.  I assumed it was the owner.

I ran to my car to honk the wheel so the owner could hear. It only took a few honks that I could see a man coming out of the house door as he went down the many stairs and rushes towards the sound.

I hurried to get out to meet him outside in front of the office. Seeing that he was a handsome tall young man. He wore a black sweatshirt that made him look a bit mysterious. His brown eyes filled with hidden secrets and sensitivity. But he looked innocent and sweet.

He looked upon worried as he gazed at me. "I'm sorry I didn't hear you in all this rain." The man apologized as he saw how rainy it was. He looked worried as he knew, he kept me waiting.

"Go ahead in, please." He insisted. I walked to the office feeling more warmer instead of the cold rain outside. I observed the feeling and the vibe of the office as it felt welcomed to be here.

I glanced at the mirror for a second seeing myself. "Dirty night." The man signed as he held what appeared to be a book to check-in. "Do you have a vacancy?" I asked curiously. I wanted to be sure if they were any.

The man looked at me as he grinned brightly. "Oh, we have 12 vacancies." The man paused as he look at the book. "12 cabins, 12 vacancies." The man began to flip a page.

"They uh, they m-moved away to the highway." The man stated as he nodded.

I felt a sense of relief. "Oh, I thought I'd gotten off the main road." I signed releasing my breath.

The man put the book in front of the countertop for me to sign in, as he flipped it for me to write. "I knew you must have, nobody ever stops here anymore unless they've done that."

The man then began to give me a pen. "But there's no sense dwelling on our losses, we just keep on lighting the lights and following the formalities."

I began to write my name as I usually wrote my name in cursive. Coraline Andersen "Your home address." The man articulated. I glimpsed at him. "Or just the time will do." I smiled at him before I decided to write the time.

After I rushed writing the time, I watched the young men look scarcely hesitant as to what key he wanted me to stay in. He gradually reached toward Key One but averts himself as he expeditiously prehended Key Two instead.
