It was a random call
I began speaking in conyo, and you also responded in conyo. Your grammar stressed me, but I just let it slide and still listened to you. Unusually, I found it cute that you were trying to speak in English to get along with me. I let you play your guitar, and you played a song by Ben & Ben entitled "Leaves."
We got along so well.
We even talked about how "umay" people were in the same app we used to make the call. You even opened the topic about your girl best friend and asked me if I were in her position, what would I do if a guy friend confessed his feelings to me? I got speechless for a bit, I thought so deeply and couldn't think of a nice answer, so I just answered the usual, "Maybe, it will be awkward for me," not the exact words I said but somewhat the same.
"Umay," you uttered.
Then I asked you about the background of the story. I somewhat interviewed you about what really is the situation between you and your girl best friend. You said she was making you jealous of the strangers she's been talking to on certain chatting apps she's using.
"Umay," you uttered.
Then I told you, "You know what, you shouldn't worry much about that because those people that she's been communicating with are just like the people in this app; they/we are all temporary."
I felt that you were enlightened and calmed by the thought of it. I think you got your hopes up again because of what I said.
We began talking deeply and asking each other random questions. I always exclaim how confident I am, and I have learned many things about you. These are mainly the things that remained in my mind about you: You are a fan of Ben & Ben, and you watch Anime. Specifically, you love watching Attack on titan, you prefer watching Filipino teleseryes and movies, you were a fan of Bagani, and then you started watching Encantadia, and I was so mind blown at this time learning these things from you; you're just.. what do you call this? Different. We even planned to watch a movie together through a rave.
"Umay," you uttered.
You told me that you're "marupok" and yeah, I felt the same in some way.
"Umay," you repeated the same word, and this time, I didn't just let it go and teased you for saying the same word repeatedly. We laughed it off, and then you uttered again, "Umay."
"Umay," I repeated.
As we ended our late-night call, you asked me for assurance, "May bukas pa ba? O last na to'?"
I assured you that there is; you just have to message me first because I don't want to look desperate if I message you first. You agreed, so the call ended at around 1 or 2 am.
We lasted calling each other for a week but after that, wala na.
